Venus Records & Tapes’ forthcoming flick, ‘Maan Gayee Mughall-e-Azam’s music has hit the stands now. Sanjay Chhel has been roped in to direct the flick, who also dashes off the lyrics for this film album. Anu Malik scores the music. The impressive star cast, consisting of Rahul Bose, Mallika Sherawat, Paresh Rawal and Kay Kay Menon, does have sparks to attract the viewers to the multiplexes, but what about the music..? Does it have guts to fetch the listeners to put their ears on..? Lets check it out…
1): Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (Anushka Manchandana, Mahalaxmi Iyer and Shaan)
The soundtrack beings with the classic track, ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’ (taken from the original movie). This time you get to listen it in a new avtar. A spunky ilk of song, it will attract you more in visuals than the music. Ishq Bector croons the major part of the track but does not get any credits for that (don’t know why..?). His rap soothes the ears. Anushka Manchandani and Mahalaxmi Iyer then get the mike to sing their parts. And yes, they impress with the renditions. Shaan comes later in the number to provide more fun to entertain the listeners. A fun-filled number all the way, it will raise your entertainment quotient to the heights and it is due to the creative lyrics written by Sanjay Chhel and the catchy musical score by Anu Malik. Listen it repeatedly if you want to relax your nerves.
Rating: 8/10
2): Marmari Baahen (Shaan and Mahalaxmi Iyer)
Welcomes you next on board is a typical romantic duet sung by the duo of Shaan and Mahalaxmi Iyer. Laced with a melodic base, the number beguiles the ears with the spongy voices of the vocalists, who display their experience and skills in an apt manner. The lyrics by Sanjay Chhel and the saccharine composition by Anu Malik add true values to the song. ‘Yes’, go for hearing it sitting with your loved ones to be more romantic.
Rating: 8/10
3): Marmari Baahen – Remix Version (Anu Malik)
Blue Zone fastens the belts to remix this number. Anu Malik appears with his trademark style of singing. Does he justify the job? Well, he does not at all…!
Rating: 2/10
4): Ek To Sharab Kum (Pankaj Udhas)
When you read the name of the singer of this song on the playlist, you instantly say… ‘Now the real enjoyment will come’. But you get disappointed when the outcome appears so mundane. Anu Malik assigns the maestro of ghazal gayki, Pankaj Udhas (who makes his comeback on Bollywood scene after a long hiatus) to render this ghazal. Udhas croons this with his usual brilliance. Lyrics are okay but not extraordinary. But what spoils the whole magic of this luminously sung ghazal is the ear-disturbing composition by Anu Malik, whose mind was not at work while stockpiling the tunes for this number. A lifeless song altogether. The song has two versions.
Rating: 2.5/10
5): Ek To Sharab Kum – Second Version (Pankaj Udhas)
The second version emerges with the similar tempo, mood and flow and flies through over your head.
Rating: 2/10

6): Ishqiyaan (Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Nigam and Aftab Hashmi Sabri)
After hearing the two most boring numbers earlier on the album, you by now must be liking to hear some enthralling number to chill. So, your wait is over now since the next one, ‘Ishqiyaan’ is a peppy duet by Sunidhi Chauhan and Sonu Nigam, who very adroitly trill the lines with much oomph. In the end part of the track, Aftab Hashmi Sabri comes in to give you a qawwali treat and attracts with the singing qualities. A good effort – lyrics and music wise also. Once the visuals are out on channels, the song will catch more fan following.
Rating: 8/10
7): Ishqiyaan (Alisha Chinoy and Sonu Nigam)
The second version is a remix done by Blue Zone. Alisha as usual steps into the hearts with her husky stylish voice. Sonu is superb also. But the remix is so poor that it destroys the magical effects of the original number and the singing of Alisha and Sonu. A disappointed effort to conclude the album.
Rating: 2/10
Conclusion:
On the whole, the soundtrack of ‘Maan Gaye Mughall-e-Azam’ is a humdrum piece of work except a few songs. It does not carry any ear-pleasing pleasures. The heavy publicity can only bring the listeners to the music stands to buy the album otherwise a good sale cannot be predicted at all.
