Chopra’s Mahabharat on mobile & internet

Gone are the days when the entire nation sat still in front of their television sets every Sunday morning to catch Mahabharat and Ramayan on Doordarshan. With the digital age setting in, consumers are on the move constantly and they carry their entertainment with them. Cashing in on this phenomenon, Rajshri Media has now decided to premiere B R Chopra’s Mahabharat TV series on the internet at www.rajshri.com.

What’s more, for the first time ever, this epic will also be streamed on a mobile phone via Reliance Communications, which was the first to launch its 24 hour streaming MobileTV service in India.

In addition, Mahabharat content will also be offered for all Reliance Mobile World enabled phones. Reliance Mobile customers can now access daily episodes, audio songs, video songs, wallpapers, character’s videos, special videos and ringtones. To watch mobisodes or hear the Geeta, consumers can log onto Reliance Mobile World

On Rajshri’s website Mahabharat will be available in multiple versions – original Hindi version, Hindi version with English subtitles and its Tamil version Mahabharatam. The TV series will be available for both, free streaming and paid downloads, to a global audience on PCs and other broadband enabled devices, on demand 24X7.

Mahabharat producer and director Ravi Chopra says, “While directing Mahabharat, I became convinced that this epic is not for us Indians alone – but for the whole wide world. Its timeless message can restore the eternal values of peace and harmony in the strife torn world of today. I am delighted at the initiative taken by Rajshri.com to make this memorable piece of work available to viewers worldwide.”

Launching Mahabharat on Reliance Mobile World, Reliance Communications president – application solutions and content group Mahesh Prasad says, “We are extremely pleased, to bring Mahabharat alive on Reliance Mobile World. It is our constant endeavour to bring information, communication and entertainment on one platform. Through this initiative, Reliance Mobile customers can watch the contents of the hugely popular television serial at a click-of-a-button.”

Reliance Mobile World customer can download upto 157 video mobisodes. Customers can also listen up to 471 minutes of programming of Mahabharat, which is being made available on the Dial 1234 platform. Reliance Mobile subscribers have to dial 1234 and say Mahabharat to choose the Mahabharat voice pack at Rs 30 per month. They can also listen to the mobisode at Re 1 per minute.

Incidentally, Ravi Chopra is also planning to embark on a six -hour film on Mahabharat, which will go on floors next year. The film, which will be released in two parts is being made on a budget of Rs 1.25 billion (Rs 125 crore).
