Ok what am I moaning about now? Well I made the time to watch the film for 15 reasons. Reason 1 to 14 was Vidya Balan and reason 15 was Aziz Mirza AND Shahid. Came out of the film with a big goofy smile thinking about Viday and when the smile eventually dispersed, the question that came up was – Did I enjoy the film? Sadly the answer was ‘No Really’. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an OK film, but nothing great about it. Watch it either on DVD or when it shows on television.
Reel Life – It’s about a guy who everyone thought would be the most successful guy in the next coming years. Truth is that he is struggling; no where near where he ought to be. Everything seems to be going wrong for him. Then one day he meets this girl, who seems to be his lucky charm. He doesn’t realize it at first, but when it does dawn upon him, he obviously wants to use her for his own success. Alas though he starts to fall in love with her, but she’s nearly hooked up with another man. This is Bollywood, so as per the rules, the man she is hooking up with turns out to be a cheating p*#^k AND our hero here puts all at stake now, because he doesn’t care about his success, as he really loves this girl and that is all he wants. The big Bollywood formula – he get them both. Yaaay!!
Real Life – Call me besotted with Vidya, but hey I wish upon you all a cute good luck charm like her. Nice to have one I guess. Then again you see, lucky mascots are nothing but God’s way of reaching out to us. So I wish you all, lovely mascots and hope that you in turn are one to the world.
Cinematically – well shot. Good visuals. The couple look good at times, though she does look older than him in certain scenes. Also, Vidya really isn’t really your hot and happening chick is she? Half of the guys I know, want to take her home and introduce her to their parents. The supporting cast are good, nothing great. All in all, the film is a cute idea, lacks substance in most places and that is primarily why is hasn’t worked. I did expect a lot more from Aziz Mirza. Do watch the film though when it’s out on DVD or on the tele.

Shahid, Shahid, Shahid all the way, the boy keeps you glued to the seat, every expression melts your heart. Aziz Mirza’s lovely story is the second draw, I saw it twice and I love it. It’s a true Aziz Mirza movie, its just that Bolly has changed a lot in5 years and what used to be fine back then is not considered good enough. In DDLJ, everyone spoke Hindi but did we care no, girls were walking on Trafalgar square wearing trashy micro minis (which does not happen in real life) but did we complain no. Unfortunately, too many people comapring it with JWM forgetting that Imtiaz Ali’s fimlmaking style is so so different from Aziz Mirza. Mirza has given us exactly what we look for in his movie, I loved it! Vidya was aptly cast, can we look beyond her wardrobe for once. To see glam dolls, go see Singh is King or those type of movie where girls are merely a “cheez” a “thing”.
