Ramesh Sippy’s magnum opus Sholay continues to allure and inspire the creative juices of the Bollywood film-makers till date. Even after 30 years of its mammoth success, Jai-Veeru, Gabbar and Thakur Sahib continue to be a favourite among the industry big houses.
Film-maker Ajay Chandok is the new entry to the list of industry gurus who will try to remake the classic epic with their own interpretation. Ajay Chandok is all set to remake Sholay on his own version and will title it as Phir Sholay.
Earlier, Ram Gopal Verma had decided to remake Sholay with Gabbar being the central character to be played by Bachchan. Even Chandok’s Phir Sholay will have Gabbar in the limelight.
So, it seems like a villain’s revenge from the Bollywood heroes. Hunnh? But, can these remakes live up to the standard of the original version? We have to wait ‘n’ watch for the answer.
