Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff along with Red FM COO Abraham Thomas felicitated the winners of Garnier Fructis Red FM Drive 93.5 – the all women’s car rally from Mumbai to Pune.
The rally was held on 16 December in aid of breast cancer awareness. The winners were felicitated at a party, held to celebrate the event that made it to the Limca Book of World records as – The Biggest Intercity All Women’s car rally in India.
Media professionals Asmita Pawar and Vrushali Tare from Mumbai won the rally. The first Garnier Fructis Red FM Drive 93.5 saw over 380 women line up at the staring point Bandra Kurla Complex at 8 am in the morning and then drive down to Pune and back.
The winners received the first prize – Rs 100,000 and jewellery worth Rs 50,000. The second prize of Rs 50,000 and jewellery worth Rs 30,000 went to Gayatri Sahni and Richa Kapoor. The third prize winners were Sanjana Wadhwa and Kavita Nagpal, who received Rs 25,000 with jewellery worth Rs 20,000. The prizes were presented by Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt.
While presenting the award to the winners, Dutt said, “Sab Mami log ne kamal kar diya! I would like to thank Red FM and Tata Memorial Hospital vice president – women’s cancer initiative Deveika Bhojwani for putting together such a great event to spread breast cancer awareness. I have had people suffering from cancer in my own family and know what the pain is like.”
Red FM COO Abraham Thomas added, “It’s a big achievement for Red Activ, the recently launched activation team, at Red FM. Right from the conceptualization phase to scouting for sponsors to the party for participants, the Red Activ team ably supported by the entire Red FM (Mumbai) team worked over time to make the event a success. We are also thankful to Devika Bhojwani for her unstinted support.”
RED FM also handed over Rs 500,000 as part of the proceedings from the rally to Bhojwani, in support of her initiative and in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness. Said Bhojwani, “I thank Red FM for conceptualizing and organizing the all women’s car rally and support the cause in such a big way. My heart felt thanks to all the women who participated in the rally and made it a great success.”
The evening also saw performances by Rageshwari, Red FM RJs – Malishka and Mantra and Infrared.
Amongst the people present during the flag-off at Bandra Kurla Complex on 16 December were Chunky Pandey, Shveta Salve, Malvika Sanhgvi, Valsha Nair, Rajeshri Thakur, Ram Kapur and Deveika Bhojwani.
