Kareena gets ex-lover Shahid fired from new flick
Imtiaz Ali has replaced Shahid Kapur with Akshay Kumar in his next, at the request of the film’s leading heroine Kareena Kapoor.
.Kareena was upset with Imtiaz Ali after the director overlooked her in favour of Deepika Padukone for a film opposite Saif Ali Khan. Kareena was expecting to take the lead in this film after the super duper success of Jab We Met. However, now Imtiaz is planning yet another film and has approached Kareena for the main role.
"I guess everyone assumed that Kareena would be part of it. Moreover as Saif is the producer, it was just taken for granted. I have heard that Kareena voiced her displeasure, but she did not directly say anything to me. As a director I have to see what the storyboard demands and accordingly do the casting. It’s not that there was any tussle on that front; the fact that we are working together again proves it,” told Imtiaz to an Indian daily.
The new film will be written by Imtiaz, who was hoping to recreate the chemistry between Kareena and Shahid. However, Kareena expressed discomfort and asked if Imtiaz would be willing to change the main hero from Shahid to some other. Akshay was then approached and he duly agreed to feature in it.
