UK Box Office: Love Story does better than Jaane Tu

Even though Harman Baweja starrer Love Story 2050 has disappointed in India, its first weekend takings in the UK are more than simultaneous release Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na.

According to figures released, Love Story 2050 has collected $97,354 compared to $59,843 for Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. One of the reasons for this could be the lack of cinemas showing Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na… only 13 in total. Love Story 2050 is being screened on 25 more screens than it. Per screen average for Love Story 2050 is $2,562 and $4,603 for Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na.

Many theatres are still contractually obliged to show last week’s release Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, and this could be why Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na has got a slow start. The flop Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic did slightly better than Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na by making $82,451 on 35 screens with an average of $2,356 per screen. Total collections for it stand at $473,706 after the second week of release.

Akshaye Khanna starrer Mere Baap Pehle Aap has gone over the half a million dollar mark by making $7,796 in its 4th week of release. It’s total collections now stand out at an impressive $500,757.

Love Story 2050 entered the charts at number 12, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic moved down 4 places to 14 and Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na stood at 16. Mere Baap Pehle Aap dropped 7 places from 23 to 30.
