It may have taken David Dhawan’s assistant director Ajay Chandok three long years to realise his dream of making a directorial debut, but the wait seems to have been worth it.
His debut venture, Nehle Pe Dehla is finally slated to release next year. Chandok has now been repeated by his producer Mahendra Dhariwal, to direct his next, titled Phir Sholay. This comedy film stars Arbaaz Khan, Javed Jaffrey, Aashish Chaudhary and Akshay Kapoor. The story is written by Yunus Sejawal and will be shot in a start to finish schedule from January 2007 in Hyderabad.
“My production house will start two movies in January 2007, one with director Kalpana Lajmi, which stars Isha Koppikkar and another with director Ajay Chandok. I have repeated Ajay in my next film, which is titled Phir Sholay, it has nothing to do with the original Sholay,” says Dhariwal.
“This film is an out and out comedy, which revolves around three strugglers in the film industry who come to a village and what happens after that. I know Ajay will do full justice to this type of movie, because he has been assitant to David Dhawan, who is a master of comedy. I am finalising three heroines to star opposite the leads. The film is budgeted around Rs 50 million (Rs 5 crore) and will be shot in a start to finish schedule from January 2007 at Ramoji Studios, Hyderabad,” adds Dhariwal.
Chandok also has in the pipeline two more movies – Kisse Pyaar Karoon and Team – The Force, which have been completed and are waiting to hit the marquee. While Kisse Pyaar Karoon stars Arshad Warsi, Aashish Chaudhary, Yash Tonk, Udita Goswami and Aarti Chhabria; Team – The Force has Sohail Khan, Amrita Arora, Aarti Chhabria and Yash Tonk in the lead.
