Veteran music director Anu Malik is angry at director Apoorva Lakhia after he was dropped from the soundtrack of Mission Istaanbul.
Initially, Anu was supposed to compose all six songs for the movie but, after he had completed the first two, he was told that further services from him would not be required. Instead, Apoorva went to Mika, Sameer Tandon and Chintaram Bhatt, asking them to tune the remaining four numbers.
It appears that Anu did not sign an official contract with the film’s producers (Suniel Shetty, Shabbir Boxwalla, and Ekta Kapoor) and therefore has no leg to stand on. Says a source, “Anu was shocked. He thought that he was supposed to do all the six songs in the film. He tried arguing with the producers and the director, but they refused to relent.”
Talking to reporters about this, Anu says, “I assumed that I would be the sole music director for the film and was really surprised when a couple of other guys were roped in. Apoorva is a friend; I have worked with him in Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost and didn’t expect this from him. From now on, I will not do a film without signing an exclusive contract.”
