EXCLUSIVE REVIEW BY HANUMANT BHANSALI

Directed by Anand Rai, Thodi Life Thoda Magic is a dud, thanks to its low-key promotion. The film never seemed to create an expectation or a buzz that would make a viewer enthusiastic about its release.

With a right script in place and a director who understands the demands of the script, nothing can go wrong with the film, but this is not the case with Thodi Life Thoda Magic. It fails right from the grass root level of filmmaking till the final execution. The entire storyline has been presented in a haphazard way, confusing the audience to the ultimatum.

The storyline of Thodi Life Thoda Magic is about MK (Jackie Shroff), who is possesses the power to change a person’s life totally. Naina (Meera Vasudevan), a TV writer alongwith her producer Siddarth (Sahil Chaddha) are looking for some happening news for their TV channel.

Their search ends with the unique MK. Aditya (Parmeet Sethi) and Roshan (Arbaaz Khan) play the supreme bosses of the company and look forward to use anyone who can be help them achieve quick success. The unaware MK is trapped by the plans of Aditya and Roshan, who decide to make him the host of a grand show.

The film has nothing exceptional in particular. A vague idea is not developed further and there seems to be no detailing done about the creative aspects of the film. The dialogues, cinematography, editing all are half-hearted attempts. The inclusion of unwanted songs in the film makes the weak screenplay even more torturing for the viewers.

Actingwise, Jackie Shroff lends a good performance but his choice of scripts need a revamp. The actor has a crazy fan-following in various parts of India, but even they can’t help him get an opening for his film if the script is truly absurd.

Meera Vasudevan is average. She should better try her hand at plays instead of movies. Arbaaz Khan and Parmeet Sethi fall prey to improper characterizations.

Overall, Thodi Life Thoda Magic will be lost into the grey clouds of flops mongering over Bollywood from quite sometime now.
