Shah Rukh denies rumours of profit sharing
Shah Rukh Khan has valiantly denied that he will be getting half the profits from Karan Johar’s next flick Khan.
“The little I know about profit sharing as an actor, I want to tell you that there is nothing like that with Khan. It is not true,” says Khan. He further explains, “I get surprised when experienced people from industry also believe in these reports. Here it is as straight forward as salary most of the times. When you sign a contract, you take your salary and go back home. Profit sharing and distributing money only happens when you are producing your own film like I would do perhaps in Red Chillies or Karan would do that in case of Dharma. But I don’t think that I would sit down with Dharma Productions for profit sharing and not even with Yash Raj. Every production has their own way of making money.”
SRK continues, “The point system works in some cases. If the film is low budget and they want to cast a big star in it they may say – Shah Rukh I do not have money to pay you but in case this film works because of your presence in it, you will get x amount of percentage as profit as you helped us to start off. When you are really a huge star, then film star cast gets 2 percent, which is always there in Hollywood. This procedure is very common there. For example a big star like Tom Cruise will take his usual amount and x percent from the gross profit, which is a huge amount but the film has to be a huge hit like Mission Impossible.”
