although SR may not be ramu's worst it is also not his best work. sadly this movie failed to capture the magic of Sarkar, mainly due to ramu's idea of reworking the same formulae that he did in Sarkar. Simply put it was a cut & paste job by a director who was in dire need of redeeming himself in the eyes of the public, but mostly to Big B. Although the script/storyline was "original", and tightly written with a bit of punch, the scenes were a renactment of scenes similar to Sarkar. The storyline was a clearly based on the Thackeray/Enron saga - no matter how ramu tries to deny this. When it became clear in the second half that the reins of the Nagres family was to be wrested by sarkar once again, the movie lost it's fizz (not much to begin with) and with agonizingly slowness you had the watch how this saga played out. Had ramu allowed the character of Shankar to continue to play centre stage throughout the movie, i believe SR would have garnered a more positive response for originality. But as this was a movie of "redemption" by ramu, Big B had to have his moment in the sun, in order to ensure that the debacle of Aag was forgiven & forgotten. As for perfomance a lot depended on the actors ability to "facially act" the part - the closeup shots were a tad too many. Big B was more of a preacher cum actor in fine form, Baby B could have added a bit more fire and passion to his dialogue, and Bahu B saved us from her simpering act by being just a bystander/witness rather than a player. To sum up SR...ramu u are forgiven.
