The GIFA awards had another offering in the form of a very different project under production. The film that was praised and appreciated by the entire gathering at the GIFA, mesmerised the Baadshah, Shah Rukh Khan as well. Apoorva Lakhia’s Shootout at Lokhandwala brought out a roar of applause from even the mostly critical media contingent.
The ambitious venture of Lakhia has been co-produced by Sanjay Gupta and Ekta Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms. Ekta’s father, yester years’ star Jeetendra was completely swept away by the creative talent of Lakhia. Meanwhile, Lakhia is all pepped up about his project.” Believe me, it wasn’t tough! Abhishek and I have a pact that he’d star in every film I make. And the pact has now extended to Mr. Bachchan too. Sanju is a friend, plus the producer, and Suniel too is a buddy. But, I admit, I did have problems casting guys on the ‘other side of the law’, namely Vivek Oberoi and Tusshar. Tusshar hadn’t portrayed a negative character and was apprehensive initially. Vivek too didn’t want to portray something he had attempted earlier, in COMPANY,” Lakhia reveals.
The film got some critical comments regarding its centralisation of narrative at Mumbai, though Apoorva is certain that his movie based on the real-life incident will be a hit. The movie has some of the biggest stars in the industry namely, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Tusshar Kapoor and so on. So, a must watch?
