For Mani Ratnam, there is no compromise for perfection. The ace director believes in giving life to its characters by being authentic and real in his films. From shooting in the apt locales of India rather than in Paris or UK, to his special touch given to the actors, there’s truth and originality in his films.
And even high-profile actors like Aishwarya have to abide by what the master says.
The glamorous beauty had to swim across a lake for a sequence in Mani’s Guru. Mani has made the actress ride a bicycle and even walk across the fields for the film.
Aishwarya plays a village girl in the film who gets married against her wish to Abhishek Bachchan and moves to Mumbai with him. The film shows Aish in a deglamourised role that even has a rain song as her introduction in the narrative.
The film is scheduled to release in January next year.
