Karachi film festival is playing host to many of the films from across the border. At the time when there are film festivals and award shows being held across the globe, Karachi fest wasn’t far behind in standards. Amongst a lot of fanfare and hum-drum, Karachi film festival is proving to be a major success. So, are many of the Bollywood movies screened here.
The most critically acclaimed movie at the film festival was talented director Tanuja Chandra’s Hope and a little sugar which is based on the life of Muslims post 9/11 in New York. The movie was applauded by the jury which appreciated Chandra’s work with the real facts and senstivity of the issue.
The film was shot in New York with Anupam Kher playing a crucial role in the narrative. Addressing the jury Chandra said, “All nations have to live together and start learning to co-exist because if one nation was ended through tyranny, then another nation could also be wiped out,” Chandra told critics.
Other movie which was appreciated at the fest was Mohit Suri’s Woh Lamhe starring Shiney Ahuja and Kangana Ranaut.
