Yash Raj Films is pulling out all stops to promote its latest offering, Kabul Express.
The film has already been received well at a number of international festivals including the London, Toronto and PUSAN film festivals. As it gets ready for its India release on 15 December, 2006, four Indian channels – Sony Entertainment Television, MTV, NDTV 24×7 and NDTV Profit will present the story behind the making of the film.
The making of Kabul Express will be simulcast on the channels on 10 December from 7 – 8 pm. Yash Raj Films has also organised a media conference that will allow interactions between the media and the cast and crew of the film, that dwells on the journey of a reporter into post Taliban Afghanistan.
While reports of the difficulties faced by the team during the shooting have already been chronicled in the media, the makers will now talk about the peculiar challenges of shooting in the still hostile atmosphere immediately after the American bombing of Afghanistan.
In the making of Kabul Express, John Abraham, who essays a role based on the real life experiences of the debutant director, talks about his role – by far one of the most physically and mentally challenging one of his career.
Arshad Warsi, one of India’s most loved actors today, talks about how he prepared for the role, and what it was like working with the multinational and multitalented cast – Salman Shahid, the Pakistani actor, Hanif Hum Ghum, the Afghan actor and Linda Arsenal, the American actor. Other cast and crew members are also expected to share their experiences about the film, the only film that has been completely shot in Afghanistan post the Taliban regime, according to YRF.
