Feature: Behind the scenes at Zee Awards

By now you must have read tons of reports on the big weekend event… Zee Cine Awards 2008. So rather than us giving you more of the same, we decided to indulge you on what went on behind the headlines… so read on.

There were funs galore at Zee Cine Awards 2008 in London as many leading Bollywood stars excited the audience with unexpected gags and jokes.

Hosts Sajid Khan and Karan Johar pulled the biggest surprise of the evening by getting superstar Rekha to sing the memorable hit number Dil Cheez Kya Hai. The crowd were in uproar after she agreed to show of her vocal abilities. Sajid and Karan also re-enacted the infamous Shilpa Shetty and Richard Gere kiss, with Karan playing Shilpa and Sajid as Gere. KJo and Sajid also sang Aap Jaisa Koi to Zeenat Aman.

Gauri Khan was in a mean mood and threatened to kill Karan Johar after he crowned her Queen of Bollywood because her husband is called Kin Khan. Earlier in the day, sexy rivals Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif gave each other the cold shoulder while on stage practising their dance routines. Now this was a sight to be seen.

The night had its fair share of dramatic moments as legendary star Pran’s wife Shukla fell in and a doctor had to be called. No need to worry though, as she immediately got better and enjoyed the night. Another dramatic moment was when a frail Feroz Khan walked onto the stage to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, while a teary-eyed crowd watched on.

Salman Khan’s little sister Arpita Khan was pushed around by a security guard who failed to recognise who she was. Little Khan didn’t take this well and appeared to be very upset. Govinda, showed all people present that he does not have a wandering eye, by blowing kisses to his wife Sunite. If ever there was a guilty man…

It was an awkward moment for everyone when Amole Gupte went to receive the Best Screenplay award for Taare Zameen Par and thanked everyone but Aamir! When Chunky reminded Amole that he had forgotten Aamir’s name, Amole just walked off the stage.

As per normal, Kareena Kapoor wished her ex Shahid Kapur for the success she is currently basking in. She however did spend much of the night canoodled up with new flame Saif Ali Khan.
