Amitabh refuses to act in Paresh Rawal’s film
The roles that Amitabh Bachchan is refusing to do, or is busy to do, are going to Naseeruddin Shah… it has emerged.
Hot on the heels of Naseer stepping into Amitabh’s shoes for Jagmohan Mundra’s terrorism flick Shoot On Sight, Paresh Rawal has also signed him. This time for a Gujarati play that is being adapted into a film. Talking about acquiring the services of Naseer, Paresh says, “The role has shades of grey. Amitji explained his point of view to me. So Naseeruddin, who was supposed to do another role in the screen adaptation, stepped in.”
Veteran comedian Paresh has roped in Shivum Nair to direct the film, which will also star Om Puri and Boman Irani. “It’s a healthy commercial film,” said Paresh who hopes to repeat the success of the play. “We used to have audiences coming repeatedly for the play although the suspense was out during the first performance. We had to revive it thrice on public demand. I hope to see the same success for the film.”
