Many of you must have missed out the initial showings of the phenomenal Dhoom 2 due to the rift between the multiplexes in the capital and the film’s producers. The movie is yet to release in the multiplexes and is showing only at the one-screen theatres. The other film following the same trend is yet another a Yash Raj film, Baabul.
VIP Films, Baabul’s Mumbai distributors are having a tough time negotiating profit shares with the Cinemax multiplexes in Mumbai. The star studded flick is one of the most anticipated movies of the season. With no showings at the Mumbai multiplexes, it can hamper the business of the movie. But, Bharat Shah of VIP Films is adamant saying that, “Baabul will not release in multiplexes in Mumbai for sure.” I want the same revenue sharing terms for Baabul as was applied to earlier multi-starrer films. I will not let the multiplexes dictate terms to me,” Shah said, adding, “I don’t want to talk (negotiate).”
The other movies which got stuck in a similar tussle were Yash Raj’s Fanaa and Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Lage Raho Munna Bhai.
