A galaxy of television and Bollywood stars walked down the red carpet at this event which is dubbed as the ‘Oscars of Indian television’, and befittingly so.
Speaking about this endeavour, Anil Khera, Director, Marketing & Sales, Sansui India remarked, “At Sansui, we believe on backing and celebrating the best. These telly awards are being hosted in the same spirit, of felicitating those who have adorned the small screen with their grand presence and performances. The competition was really tough and going by the audience polls, even they seem to have a tough time selecting the best in each category.”
The programme was made entertaining with spirited performances by Rohit Roy who danced to a medley of Bollywood ditties, followed by Ronit Roy who along with Roshni Chopra recreated the magic of Jodha Akbar. Rakhi Sawant set the stage on fire (as she claimed backstage “ main yahan apna jalwa dikhane aayi hoon !”) by grooving to the latest Krazzy 4 track and others, while Sharad Kelkar, Rajshri Vaidya, Tina and Hussain as well the bahus Nimisha, Suchita and Kadambari kept the audience enthralled with their novel acts.
The cherry, or make that cherries, on the cake came in the form of Juhi Parmar who gave a scintillating performance on the title track of Race and Bollywood heartthrobs Dia Mirza and Viveik Oberoi (who serenaded some of the leading ladies of television).
The Sansui Television Awards for the Best Actor and Actress was won by the Kasamh Se duo Ram Kapoor and Prachi Desai, who were ecstatic with the victory. “It was a tough competition; to have won it is truly a pleasure” said Ram whereas Jeetendra who was awarded the Sansui Television Lifetime Achievement award by Anil Khera and Dimple Kapadia sounded overwhelmed as he thanked the audience “for the continual love and support extended to me and my children.”
The show was well attended by luminaries like Poonam Dhillon, Chunky Pandey, Rakshanda Khan (looking hot in her new hairdo and who was sad to have missed receiving her award as she came late), Alok Nath, JD Majithia (who gave an impassioned call for recognising the contribution of writers), Sudha Shivpuri, Mansi Joshi Roy and Neelam Roy, Shivaji Satam, Pooja Missra and many more.
