With the Hollywood awards season rapidly approaching, India has three chances at this year’s Golden Globes as the nominations for best foreign film will be announced on 14 December, 2006. Rang De Basanti, Omkara and Lage Raho Munnabhai are holding the flag for India as the race begins for the 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which will take place on 15 January in Beverly Hills.

Recently Hasan met members of the foreign press promoting Rang De Basanti, Omkara and Lage Raho Munnabhai making sure all members of the foreign press get to see Indian cinema, thus enabling a nomination for India.
“There is a lot of buzz about Bollywood in Hollywood and members of the foreign press are all looking forward to the screenings of Rang De Basanti, Omkara, and Lage Raho Munnabhai. India is the buzz word today in the US and Bollywood is starting to make waves in Hollywood, a lot of people in Hollywood are eager to watch more Bollywood movies, and this year I’m sure we will see Hollywood honor Bollywood. On a daily basis, I educate Hollywood Studios that Bollywood represents 3.8 billion fans worldwide compared to Hollywood 3.6 billion fans worldwide,” said Hasan.
Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced that 184 live-action feature films have qualified for consideration for Golden Globe nominations. The films include 119 dramas and 65 comedies or musicals, according to the HFPA. Also qualifying for consideration were 16 animated features, 124 television series — including 73 dramas and 51 comedies — 38 miniseries and 56 foreign-language films. Meanwhile, 88 songs have qualified in the category of best original song in a motion picture. All nominations for the 64th annual Golden Globe Awards will be announced 14 December in Beverly Hills.
