After dishing out successful hits like Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Don, the musical trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy come together for Nikhil Advani’s Salaam-E-Ishq. After Kal Ho Na Ho, Nikhil’s and the trio’s last successful venture as a team, the expectations with this album are obviously high. The music is purely original, romantic and may well be appreciated by the audience. The album has seven romantic numbers in sync with the theme of the movie- “love”.

Dil Kya Kare (Singer : Adnan Sami)
Ratings: 3.5/5
The song marks the return of Adnan Sami into the mainstream playback singing. The mesmerising voice of the genius does justice to the beautiful lyrics of Sameer. The song is poetic and melodious with minimal use of instruments. There is a Caribbean feel to the whole number. Nice!

Saiyaan Re (Singers : Shanker, Loy and Shilpa)
Ratings: 3/5
It has a good fusion of folk in the form of Qawalli and the western influence. The blend is even more impressive with the composer-cum-singer Shankar Mahadevan crooning along with newcomer Shilpa. There is a nice rhythm to the entire song and Loy provides the western feel to the catchy number.

Mera Dil (Singers : Shaan and Nihira)
Ratings : 3.5/5
A true Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy song to the core. A very romantic and hummable number which sets the right mood for you. The song is a real mushy number sung by Sa Re Ga Ma Pa finallist Nihira and Shaan. Lovely!

Salaam-E-Ishq (Singers : Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Kunal Ganjawala, Sadhna Sargam & Shanker Mahadevan)
Ratings : 3.5/5
The trio dishes out another good number with the best crooners singing for the best actors in Bollywood. The song has been recorded on a grand scale and is picturised on the entire star cast of the movie. A real foot-tapper with an amazing blend of the Scottish Bagpiper and the Indian dholki beats. The number is by far the best composition in the album. Brilliant!

Tenu Leke (Singers : Sonu Nigam and Mahalaxmi)
Ratings : 3.5/5
Get on your dancing shoes for this one! The talented trio does an amazing blend of dhol and rhythmic beats which again give you a Caribbean feel. With Sonu Nigam crooning the number along with talented Mahalaxmi it had to be a treat ofr the ears. A ‘baraat’ song which has good beats and is peppy from the word go. Good try!

Babuji Dheere Chalna (Singer : Nihira)
Ratings : 3/5
The classic number originally sung by Geeta Dutt is revisited in this album. Newcomer Nihira is impressive with her crooning. A soft and captivating number. Not much of tampering is done with the original number. Though there is the techno feel in the song which makes it a delight to hear.

Ya Rabba (Singer : Kailash Kher)
Ratings : 3.5/5
Kailash Kher is at his brilliance yet again. Surprisingly, Kher sings at a medium-pitched mode throughout the song. A pensive and slow number that talks about the kind of pain one feels in love. A well written number with minimal arrangements.

With the already musically successful year coming to an end, the listeners get another good album. Overall, Salaam-E-Ishq is has a good mix of desi, Sufi, western and techno feel to it. With not a single dissapointing number, the album is expected to do well. For me, it’s definitely a good purchase!
