The season of sequels is not yet over in the Bollywood. The comedy genius Priyadarshan has joined the race of producing sequels to his successful movies. A sequel is being planned for Malamaal Weekly, which was a hit movie of 2006. Priyadarshan’s other movie Hera Pheri also got a sequel in the form of the blockbuster Phir Hera Pheri.
The yet-untitled sequel to Malamaal Weekly will be directed by Raju Kumar, who is his assistant director. The sequels have been directed by Priyadarshan’s close associates. Phir Hera Pheri was directed by his permanent screenwriter Neeraj Vora. It came out to be the one of the biggest grosser of 2006.
Meanwhile, Priyadarshan wasn’t still convinced by the idea of sequels. He says, “I still feel the same way about sequels and will continue to avoid doing one even if all my films are turned into successful sequels. I don’t believe in carrying an old story forward when there’re so many new stories to tell. I’d rather do new original scripts.” A true creative person to the core!
