Amitabh Bachchan to battle Shah Rukh on TV
It seems the cold war between superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan is about to be reignited. Zee TV have approached Amitabh Bachchan to host a television game show that would rival Star Plus’s upcoming quiz show; Shah Rukh Khan anchored Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?
A source says, “Punit Goenka, son of Zee TV’s head honcho, Subhash Chandra Agarwal, has been repeatedly meeting Bachchan since the past few days. Punit is very keen that Zee kills the Star Plus show.” However, the show will not be shown in the same time slot, “Bachchan is in no mood to pursue his competition with SRK. He has made it clear to Punit that he will not do the show if Zee TV plans to pitch it around the same time,” confirms the source.
“There has never been an open fight between Bachchan and SRK. So there is no question of patch up. But yes, friction had developed between the two when SRK grabbed KBC 3, which was originally meant for Bachchan. A long time has passed since then and both have moved on in their life. Bachchan doesn’t want to revive those unpleasant old memories again and have constant comparisons drawn out in the press if both shows go on air around the same time,” continues the source.

Personally I have to tell both parties, you sound like idiots. The whole ‘war’ is just a sensationalised topic, and the media is just adding more fuel to the fire. The ignoramuses that are saying ‘SRK rules’ or ‘Big B rules’ are both idiotic. SRK, regardless of what he has done (commericals, public appearances etc), has done notable performances (Devdas, Darr, Baazigar, Swades etc.) yet he has done cold turkeys like ‘Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke’, ‘Guddu’ and ‘Zamaana Deewana’ etc, which he regrets doing in his career. Which does not contradict his talent, he is still a great actor.
Amitabh Bachchan is always going to be a legend, he cannot be compared to SRK, as he has done more films and has more experience in the industry. SRK has won 7 Awards, is still a great actor. But, can any of SRK’s work be compared to Big B’s National Award-winning performance in ‘Agneepath’ (1990)? No, you cannot. Legends do not make cheap films like ‘Nishabd’ (which did get a lot of critical acclaim, however), but could small minded people like DMJ contradict efforts like ‘Deewaar’ (1975), ‘Sholay’, ‘Sharaabi’ ‘Sarkar’, Namak Halaal’, ‘Lawaaris’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Coolie’ etc? Even though they have re-conciled their differences and are ON GOOD TERMS (SRK’s recent Blockbuster ‘Om Shanti Om’ featured a cameo from Both Amitabh Bachchan and son Abhishek). So I think the Indian press should shut up and try not to divide the industry by causing rivalry between the 2 biggest stars in Bollywood.

Nowadays SRK has to compete with AB, AB junior, Amir K, Salman K, Hritik R, Akshay kumar.

Just as Shah Rukh Khan’s Don in 2006 paled at the box office in comparision to the 1978 platinum jubilee blockbuster Don featuring Amitabh Bachchan, the ratings of Shahrukh Khan hosted KBC 3 were soundly beaten by the Amitabh Bachchan hosted version also. Though it had not been widely reported in media until now, in an exclusive, below is presented the actual show by show TRP all India ratings comparision of the viewership of KBC II vs KBC III
The opening night of Bachchan’s KBC 2 drew an initial of All India TAM rating of a 14.0. That is to say 14% of all TV sets were tuned in to KBC II . The initial for KBC3 hosted by Shah Rukh Khan in comparision was only 9.3% . So the initial of the Amitabh Bachchan hosted version was over 50% higher than the one hosted by Shahrukh Khan.
That trend continued throughout the run of KBC III right through its finale, which featured even Salman Khan with Shahrukh Khan, along with Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, but failed to make par. However the TRPs were not close. The 30th episode of KBC3 for example drew only a tepid 3.6 compared to the 7.3 of the corresponding episode featuring Amitabh Bachchan in 2005.
