Abbas Mustan’s Race got sold for a whopping Rs 7 crore to Ramesh Sippy’s Raksha Film Distributors. Last year Welcome was sold for Rs 8.5 crore and OSO for a huge Rs 8 crore. Race starring Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor and Sameera Reddy promises all the mirch masala and Bollywood ingredients to attract both the classes and the masses.

Talking about this Rs 7 crore distribution deal, a source from the distribution circuit said, “Yes, it is true. Race is the hottest movie in the trade circles these days. Everybody is waiting for it to release. The Mumbai rights were sold by UTV to Ramesh Sippy’s Raksha Film Distributors for Rs 7 crore. The producers have sold the worldwide rights to UTV for 57 crore. The movie budget was around Rs 35 crore (including publicity) which means the makers have already made a profit of Rs 22 crore.”

Ramesh Taurani from Tips Films confirms the news, “All are awaiting the release of Race. It has already become a hot property amongst distributors. Raksha Film Distributors will own the rights in Mumbai. I can’t disclose the exact amount but it has been sold at an excellent price. We are planning to come up with around 700 prints.”
