Bhojpuri cinema today is on high heels of success and rated-considered the worthy entertainment industry not only in india but also the globe. And it is because of the artists, filmmakers and the people associated with it. Their efforts and huge and praiseworthy. A number of classy movies are being churned out. And the mammoth amount of films that contain the content (which is mostly missing in today’s Hindi cinema) are being chewed up on the topography of Bhojpuri filmdom.
Last year, Bhojpuri awards wrote history and adored a lot by the film fraternity of Bhojpuri world, Bollywood and the people on the country.
Again, this year’s awards are all geared up once again to entice your souls.
The glory of Bhojpuri films and culture soaring new highs day by day. Famous actor and Loksabha MP Govinda has been appointed official Brand Ambassador of the Bhojpuri Film Awards (BFA) in a crowded press conference on 25th November evening in a five star hotel, Sun & Sand, Mumbai, where political heavyweights mingled with stalwarts of the Bhojpuri film industry to announce the second Bhojpuri Film Awards.
Being an official Brand Ambassador of BFA, Govinda announced that the second Bhojpuri Film Awards 2006 will be held at the Goregaon Sports Club, Mumbai on February 16, 2007. Bhojpuri Film Awards 2006 will be organized jointly by the Bhojpuri World Magazine and Go Fish Opportunities and so was this press conference.
Subodhkant Sahay, the Union Minister for Food & Processing Industries, as chief guest of the evening announced actor and MP Govinda, the brand ambassador of the BFA, he further stated that the year 2005 will be written in the golden words in the history of Bhojpuri films when we all became eyewitness of the first Bhojpuri Film Awards started by a young active and hardcore bhojpuri lover Vinod Gupta, he did what no one could dared to do so in last 45 years of bhojpuri films history. He expressed his strong belief that Govinda was the right choice for this responsibility and he will perform his best as an official brand ambassador.
2nd Bhojpuri Film Awards 2006 will be held on 16th February at Goregaon Sports Club, Mumbai, announced dashing-dynamic and newly appointed brand ambassador Govinda, who was dressed up in a formal black suit. He also emotionally expressed that Bhojpuri is where my roots are, this is in my blood & nerves. His music exponent mother Nirmala Devi was from the eastern UP, Banaras origin. He further added that bhojpuri culture and tradition gave us great personalities, great sufi saints, great artistes, great leaders….and now I got this opportunity. I am thankful to Vinod Guptaji for his gesture and promise; I will be available for this great cause anytime and shall leave no stone unturned to serve the best of my abilities.
Other bigwigs that comprised the panel at the event were Kripa Shankar Singh, MLA of Maharashtra, yesteryears’ renowned actress Kumkum, who featured in the first ever Bhojpuri film Ganga Maiyya Tohe Pihari Chadhaibo in the 60s, Sajjad Khan of Go Fish and Navdeep Singh Siddhu, Inspector General of Rajasthan Police.
Vinod Gupta, founder and president of Bhojpuri Film Awards and editor of the newly-launched magazine Bhojpuri World, said, “We started the Bhojpuri awards last year, because we felt the need to do something to encourage the bhojpuri industry. It was indeed touching that Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu had graced us with their presence in the first bhojpuri award function, I would be grateful for them for the lifetime.”
Actress Kumkum, still splendid after so many years break from acting, nostalgically spoke about the first ever Bhojpuri film Ganga Maiyya Tohe Piyari Charaihbo starring herself. She spoke about the premiere that was held especially in Delhi, so dignitaries like then President Rajendra Prasad and Lal Bahadur Shastri could attend. She appreciated the joint efforts being done by Vinod Gupta the founder and president of Bhojpuri Film Awards and editor of Bhojpuri World Magazine and Sajjad Khan of Go Fish Opportunities.
MLA Kripa Shankar Singh delighted everyone by speaking in Bhojpuri and said it was indeed encouraging that even South actresses like Hema Malini were acting in Bhojpuri cinema. He supported Vinod Gupta for raising his voice to comprise the Bhojpuri as main language in the 8th regulation code of the Indian constitution. Subodhkant Sahay spoke about the magazine which he felt was a great initiative. He said that the wave of Bhojpuri cinema came late, but nevertheless, he hoped it will grow from strength to strength.
Other prominent faces included senior actors Kunal Singh, Jagdeep, Yunus Parvez, producer Deepak Sawant, directors Ajay Sinha, Abhishek Chaddha, Aslam Sheikh, Arshad Khan, Brijbhushan, Sunil R. Prasad, Sanjay Gupta, distributor-producer Abhay Sinha, Rekha Sahay, Sajjad Khan partner of Go Fish Opportunities and Nathubhai Gandhi among others. Vinod Gupta, founder and president of Bhojpuri Film Awards tendered a vote of thank to all present there to make the event a huge success.
