All the action – once again
I just watched Dhoom 2, and before I say anything else, let me make this clear – I LOVED it. I know I will get a lot of questions on this. So let me start by telling you why I loved it. I’ve grown up on a great diet of Lethal weapon films, Bond, RoboCop and of course Stallone and Schwarzenegger films. Now why am I openly admitting this? This is purely because when ever I watched (and still watch) I never try to make sense of the madness, the stunts, the gadgets or even the logic behind it. I merely enjoy the thrill. So if I can enjoy those Hollywood films in that genre, why can’t I enjoy a Bollywood film that is, or is atleast trying to fit into that same genre? Dhoom 2 is just that , in all fairness. It is, either in that genre or is sincerely trying to fit into that genre. You have the cops that are after the bad guys, great locales, never seen before stunts for a Bollywood flick, hot babes, and of course the certain chemistry between the good cop and his side-kick. The real question though is – does it work for Dhoom 2?
Reel Life – Inspector Abhishek (in bad need of a make over. Dude the stubble worked great in Sarkar, and that doesn’t mean you keep it forever, or worse still let it grow to a stag where it is neither a stubble nor a beard) is back. This time round, Uday Chopra is his assistant. Give them more bikes, action and no reason to kill who they think are bad, and you do get convinced that they are the kick-arse cops. Rimi Sen’s role is pointless, but I can see why the producers had to bring her back into the sequel – continuity. Abhishek carries forward his role from the first installment of being your no-bullshit cop, whose life revolves around getting those he chases. Then there is Bipasha. She is hot. She has lost a lot of weight, and I will bet my life, her legs have become longer than before. She is a cop too, who knows a lot about a certain international thief – known to us as Mr. A. Turns out, she and Abhishek were in the same college and they have a kind of history behind them. Now into the frame walks the man known to us as Mr. A. To us common men, he would be the actor that our wives / girl friends and not to forget gay friends find so incredibly H.O.T, the actor who goes by the name Hrithik. Yes, ok he does look very hot in the film, but more importantly he carries himself into the character. I mean Hrithik is very convincing as an Indian origin international thief. He does convince you that he’s seen the world, doing whatever it is. At many instances you hardly notice any other person in the frame when he is on screen. That’s quiet something. He does it well. Then of course he starts to dance, and I assume that every woman and gay dude in the cinema drools at him, while the rest of us men are either saying ‘B*****d’ in jealousy OR if you are me, then I was still thinking if Bipasha’s legs had really grown longer. Wo!! So here you have the cat and mouse game. Good buys catching the bad guys. Not all of the stunts are original, but hey, they are done by our desi boys in our very desi film. I don’t know what the fuss was with people saying that the music wasn’t that great. I didn’t notice it, then again remember, I did admit that I was thinking about Bipasha’s legs.
There are flaws in the film, no doubt. Like why the hell did Bipasha have to have double role? I mean the first one who is so committed to her job, just disappeared and another one takes over!!!! Hello what happened there? Also, I didn’t like the ending at all. It was, to say the least stupid. I mean, I am wiling to oversee all the other logical flaws in this action film, but what Abhishek does at the end, goes against EVERYTHING that he stands for. No reason, nothing. He just goes and does exactly the opposite for what his character represents.
Besides that, I have one major problem with the film, one which along with the previous one, I am not willing to forget. Infact, the one I am about to mention right now, was more like the bad after taste in the mouth kind of one. That is Aishwarya Rai. She is neither hot and nor did she fit into the canvas with the other cast. The rest were kind of cool, some were hot (Bipasha’s legs) but Ash didn’t fit in either of those. She just doesn’t come across as being a sexy kitten, or a cool dudette. What was she doing in that film? She’s beginning to be a Rani Mukherjee.
Real Life – Bonding folks. I came out thinking, that what the world needs more of. Bonding, like how Abhishek and Uday, have a great bond of respect and friendship for each other. Bonding, like how a very stable Hrithik gets smitten by that crazy thing called love. It’s all over the place, within the good guys and the bad guys. I also loved the way how Abhishek, in his very subtle way is committed to his nagging wife.
Cinematically – The film is stylish. Hrithik pulls off a lot of scenes simply coz he was in them. The stunts are great fun, the gadgets are good – atleast for a desi film. The acting is ok, except for Ash. The comedy scenes do make you laugh most of the time. The photography is quiet good, specially the scene where Hrithik and Ash do a jump off a cliff.
Finally – go watch it, and watch it in the theater. Look at how we Indians can make action films too with great stunts. Go watch it for the trendiness the film tries to ooze out. Go watch it at the cinemas. It is NOT the best film of the year commercially. That crown belongs to RDB and Lage Raho Munna bhai – anytime.

What r u talking about, Aish was the best part of the film after Hrithik, she just sizzled and much much better then Bipasha and hotter then Bipasha, i think you have a problem with Aish, i can understand if you are not her fan , but please dont say such a stupid things about her that only you think, when i watched it in the cinema, everyone would clap and whistle when she comes on screen and her dance in crazy kiya re, was the best and she looked HOTTTTTT.
If you are a serious cinema-goer u’ll agree with me.
Well I dono who posted the above review but he’s absolutely right accept for one thing. Aish is not that bad in the movie I agree she aint look hot at first few reels but common guys watch her in Brazil she is sizling! accept for the “like” in her dialogues which are been mis placed and gets on nerves at times..

Man! instead of growing up he’s becoming a kid. He’s not charming in his acting as a super cop just compare him to the Dhoom 1 charecter and this one is a total let down. check him out in the dance sequences, he humiliates. common Aby baby grow up intead of keeping an eye on aish focus on ur acting. u r loosing it.. plsss dont let us down in Guru. there are 2 cops one have potrayed as a joker who did his job fair enough and the other one who is suppose to b serious as acted as a joker! shame!
This movie has not keep up to the expectations i still prefer to Watch Dhoom again rather then Dhoom 2 if given an option. the action sceans are not edited professionaly.. the action on the train is meaningless he could’ve just vanish from there it made no sence. Direction is poor.. but! there is n Ace! which goes to the Cameraman n Hritik. Photography is excellent.. Hritik is like never before he’s fresh! energetic! handsome! too good to b a bad guy. what i loved about both the Dhoom’s is that, the bad guy inspires u rather then the good one.
Good for the producers, that, even before people could realize that it’s a bad movie, it fetch all its money back n i belive it made a decent profit too.
ure crazy!!!!! ash looked gorgeous! her and hrithik made the movie!! your literally crazy and deranged to say she didn’t look good! quit being so jealous! seriously, who gave you this job to write movie reviews? i use to read reviews on radio sargam all the time, next time ill think twice before i base a movie on their reviews..

I think you are partially right. Though I have to admit Ask looked beautiful but not sexy!!!! Also she was wearing skimpy clothes so people were awwed. As far as acting goes ASh is not the best. I didn’t understand why you said she was becoming Rani Mukherjee though. I mean they are so different!!! Please don’t say that you think Rani can’t act either because thats just bullshit and go watch Black. As for Aish her new look suits her but Bipasha is more sexy. The film is amazing and I wish people talked about Bipasha a little more because she looked fabulous. I don’t think any actress in bollywood would have looked so good in a bikini as she did. Also Hritik Aish chemistry…flawless. I think Uday was best acting wise after Hritik.

Dhoom2, The best movie of the year, hrithik n Aish the best part of the movie, without them the movie wouldnt be HOT, if you can think no other actress could have pulled Aish’s role like she did.

I am gona agree lil bit wid this dude even though i dont like his reviews and his thouhts. But he was absolutly right about ABHISEKH, he looked so GAY in this movie; plus, he aint got no acting skills, he tries to act but ends up being More N More GAYY. Bips looked hot but the cake has to go to Hrithik for his superb performance in every department( Looks, Acting, Dancing, Stunts).However, considerin ASH’s age, she looked pretty Fit n Hawt even though her acting skills were lookin rusty…!
And over all The MOVIE was Bogus..ending was pure stupid……..I would strictly suggest all the movie directors to learn, how to make hollywood style movie from FARHAN AKHTAR..cause the realism was lackluster in D2.

Aishwarya,s performance is so good in the film that even her contemporaries like karreena,preethi and rani couldnot generate such an impact even with an authorbacked performance oriented role.

The chemistry between Hrithik and ash is so perfect and flawless that one is the best patner or colead to eachother.hrithik did with ash what salman khan did with ash in HUM DIL… with those somany romantic scenes and songs with just one simple but passionate kiss.
if hrithik and aishwarya were not paired with each other the film for sure would not have garnered such an earth shattering opening and turn out to be such a huge hit.

If anyone knows anything about making movies, they should know that the star of the show was the director. he is the one that made Hrithik’s charcter most appealing. People that say Hrithik kills Abhishek in the movie are stupid. Look at the roles and what was written for them, Hrithik was written as the star of the show. Abhishek’s role was limited and he did well. Aish looked great but her acting at the start was pretty bad, “are you, like checking me out” ummm.. no one speaks like that in that tone but she improved as the movie rolled on. the ending was a let down as well. For me RDB is still the best movie of the year as it has a meaning behind it and not just a special affects entertainer.
