Being a superstar’s mirror image, Kunal starts receiving all the attention and is worshipped as a hero. With this stardom, comes a package of trouble for the star struck men.
First and foremost, the film is clearly an honest attempt to project a good idea on the bigscreen, but the charitable editing and sloppy script have done more damage than repair to the overall prospects of the film at the box office.
Director Rohit Jugraj has definitely notched up decent performances in the frames. Some of the scenes are outstandingly brilliant, but the devilish editing take the film two steps back from its goal. Rahul Singh and Sudip Sharma need a lesson or two in screenplay writing. Cinematography is noteworthy.
Shamir Tandon and Abhijit Vaghani’s music is an absolute plummet and does not work in creating magic on the silverscreen. None of the songs will stay on your lips once the film is over.
Performance wise, Kunal Khemu does remarkably well in Superstar. He uplifts the standards of the film with his acting feat. Actress Tulip Joshi has very less to do. Aushima Sawhney is a miscast spell opposite Kunal Khemu. Zafar Karachiwala is okay. Darshan Zariwala is brilliant and so is Sharat Saxena.
Overall, the box office leaves an average ray of hope for Superstar as the glittery product is blemished with a few dark holes in it.
