Bejan Daruwalla predicts an Oscar for an Indian film this year
MUMBAI: India’s Oscar aspiration seems to be at it’s lowest ebb after the controversy surrounding the nomination of Eklavya and it’s subsequent failure to make it to even the nominations. But astrologer Bejan Daruwalla has predicted that this year Bollywood may indeed have a date with the Oscars. “The Oscars should favour India either in the year 2008 or 2009,” Bejan said.
Asked about which actor or film it might be, Bejan adds, “March 14, 1931 was the day when filmmaker Ardeshir Irani made his pathbreaking film Alam Ara, the first ever talkie film in Indian history. Incidentally, Aamir Khan is also born on March 14. There’s a strong possibility that Aamir will be a prominent contender for the Oscars.”
After Taare… the premise doesn’t look far-fetched at all. But the stars bode well for other actors also. “Among others who stand a good chance are Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan. We must not forget that this is the year of Aquarius.
In that respect there’s Subhash Ghai who stands a good chance of churning out some amazing work. He is an eccentric man, but I feel that goes with creative geniuses like him. Between the four of them, they should bring India an Oscar this year,” added Bejan.
