People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) which operates in more than 20 countries, including India, is the world’s largest animal rights organization, with more than 1.8 million supporters. PETA completes eight years in India today, to celebrate which, John Abraham, Raveena Tandon and Hemant Trivedi played the perfect hosts to a grand evening. Baggit – the leading brand in bags and accessories shares this cause with PETA. Baggit has never believed in killing animals for fashion. Nina Lekhi, of Baggit believes that Fashion can be created without being cruel to the animals. Though Fashion is all about style, Baggit is changing the way fashion is being sold! They are selling on intent, purpose and values.
Ingrid Newkirk (Founder of PETA) Jason Baker and Anuradha Sawhney were at the door welcoming each and every guest for the evening. Suchitra Pillai was the earliest to arrive, followed by Designer Hemant Trivedi – one of the hosts for the evening. John Abraham was the next to arrive. He was very thrilled to know that Baggit had won the PETA proggy award and promised Nina that he will visit their Bandra store for sure. Tisca Chopra glowing in the TZP fame came with her husband, dressed aptly for the evening. Raveena Tandon walked in with her hubby Anil Thadani and Delhi based designer Manav Gangwani. Aditya Panscholi with a new hair style, Artist Soketu Parekh pledged to donate all the proceeds from the sale of one of his painting to PETA. Shamita Singha, Mashoom Singha, Poonam Sinha, Anjoo Mahendru, Rupali Ganguly, Dipannita Sharma, Designer Lascelles Symmons with wife Pallavi, Rij Eappen with Arshiya Fakih, Nethra Raghuraman, Urvashi Dholakia, Yana Gupta, Namrata Dutt all animal lovers graced the occasion too.
John who believes a lot in the cause of PETA went around convincing people to donate generously for the cause. Highest bidder was a gentleman who pledged to donate 1 lakh for the cause.
High energy performances by Aahna Deol and Sandeep Soparrkar and Jesse Randhawa kept people asking for more. Channel V VJ’s Tina and Aaditya were compering for the show.
Nina Lekhi, the woman behind Baggit was thrilled to know that Baggit has been the chosen one to receive the PETA Proggy Award for the year 2007. Heralding the arrival of the fashion brand Baggit , which is available all across India ; with a purpose far beyond just being an adornment over a woman’s wrist or shoulder.
