RADIO SARGAM SPECIAL REPORT:
SHAH RUKH KHAN DOCUMENTARIES ON DVD!

Eros International recently announced the DVD release of two highly anticipated documentaries on Bollywood’s biggest star, Shah Rukh Khan, by the acclaimed London based filmmaker Nasreen Munni Kabir. The two facets of Shah Rukh, the inner being and the outer persona, are the subjects of “The Inner World of Shah Rukh Khan” and “The Outer World of Shah Rukh Khan” respectively. As the filmmaker herself says, the first documentary deals with Shah Rukh’s personal life whilst the second deals with his relationship with his fans.

Nasreen Munni Kabir is one of the most prolific chroniclers of contemporary Hindi cinema and has created nearly 100 documentaries and books on the subject. She has covered some of the biggest personalities and subjects including Lata Mangeshkar, Dev Anand, Javed Akhtar and perhaps most famously Amitabh Bachchan with the film “Follow the Star” in 1989. She also runs her own production company, Hyphen films, and as such was perfectly positioned to create the definitive programme on Shah Rukh Khan.

Shah Rukh Khan himself needs little introduction – the biggest box office draw working in Bollywood today and a true international superstar, Shah Rukh has starred in over 60 movies since breaking into film in 1989 including many of the biggest hits of the last few years including Devdas, Chalte Chalte, Main Hoon Na, Veer-Zaara and Paheli. More recently he has set up his own production company, Red Chillies, which has produced hits such as Chalte Chalte, Main Hoon Na and Paheli. He is also a consummate stage performer whose shows sell out all over the world. However few have access to the man behind the star. But with Kabir being granted that very privilege, “Inner World” catalogues his daily life over seven days on the sets of Main Hoon Na in India in 2004 and “Outer World” is filmed around the 2004 Temptations live concerts in Sri Lanka and the USA, showing the almost hysterical nature of his legions of fans. In tandem, Kabir’s films present a truly unique perspective and never before seen footage of a global icon.

The two films will be offered together as a unique digi- pack double disc - further details can be found on www.erosentertainment.com.
