SPECIAL REPORT: KISNA SOUNDTRACK SPECIAL!
Kisna The Warrior Poet, is the latest cross-cultural film by the showman Subhash Ghai. Set in North India in the late 1940s, it is an epic love story starring Bollywood heartthrob Vivek Oberoi and British actress Antonia Bernath. The forthcoming soundtrack, produced by A.R Rahman and Ismail Durbar, is soon set to release worldwide ahead of the film. Here are some details...remember you read it on Radio Sargam first! With an impressive track record in producing smash hit soundtracks including Khalnayak, Pardes and Taal amongst others, Subhash Ghai has now created another memorable album in Kisna - one of the most awaited albums of the year! For the first time in his career he has collaborated with two of the greatest music composers of Indian cinema on one film - A.R. Rahman and Ismail Durbar. It is also the first time that these two composers have worked together. Subhash Ghai was thrilled to work with such immense talent on his greatest project to date and describes the experience of working with these musical maestros as fascinating, exciting and unique. To add to this impressive line up, renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar has penned his magic once again with Kisna, which is his first project with Ghai, who describes the lyrics as colourful and soulful. The musical journey of Kisna features 16 tracks in total with the premium CD pack including all 16 tracks. The standard CD pack has 12 tracks and the cassette features 7. These include a combination of instrumental melodies and mantras composed by the talented duo. The mantras have been beautifully chanted by Vijay Prakash and chorus. Other distinguished artistes such as Udit Narayan, Sukhwinder Singh, Hariharan, Alka Yagnik and Ustad Rashid Khan amongst many others have contributed their vocal talents to the album. A.R. Rahman has also composed an English song for the soundtrack featuring Blaaze. The music for Kisna is set to be released on 6th December 2004. Two of the songs will be previewed exclusively at The International Film Festival of India on 29th November 2004 by A.R. Rahman who will be conducting a grand orchestra at the festival. Also performing live on this occasion will be talented dancer and actress Isha Sharvani, who debuts in the film. Producing the music of Kisna has been an incredible journey for Subhash Ghai: The experience has been fascinating, exciting and unique and I must thank A.R. Rahman and Ismail Darbar for giving me their best in Kisna. Javed Akhtar has further beautified the soul of my film through his lyrics. What more could a director ask for? Written by Robeel Haq |
