K3G: THE BOOK
The Idea Of The Book?

The eagerly awaited book The Making of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was finally released on December 9th.

Written by Niranjan Iyengar, the book traces the film from inception to its release and reveals candid moments from behind the scenes and captures the team spirit of the full crew behind the movie.

The launch party was held at the Grand Maratha, Mumbai and the entire starcast showed up to the gala event except for Kajol, who wasn't feeling well.

Karan Johar must be quite optimistic of K3G's success if he thinks people will actually go out any buy a ‘behind the scenes' book.

He stated that "The idea of the book was conceived when I was still at the writing board, and therefore it has covered all stages of the films production. If this film turns out to be of some consequence, then this book will be its most treasurable item and tangible evidence of what the audiences have enjoyed."

Iyengar, a childhood friend of Kareena's claimed that, "The book was initially planned as a cinematic idiom, but it's production scale and cast made me change my mind. I decided to concentrate on the film to disprove the theory that less work goes into a commercial film as opposed to a periodic. I've also tried to show the relevance of certain things in commercial cinema - large sets, opulence, cliches."

But are audiences really going to be interested in reading about the life of K3G? With so much hype surrounding the movie, expectations are soaring, so time will tell.
