A Radio Sargam Special

Its been a dull start to the year at the Bollywood box office. However Indian film fans can look forward to a range of big releases in the near future. Radio Sargam starts the countdown with a look at Masti, Run, Main Hoon Na and Dev.

Masti is a romantic comedy directed by Indra Kumar and starring Vivek Oberoi and Ritesh Deshmukh, with special appearances by Lara Dutta and Ajay Devgan. The film is a wry look at men who get the urge to stray after marriage and follows three friends from childhood to marriage and out the other side! The film is out on April 9th

Run is the latest release from renowned producer Boney Kapoor, directed by Jeeva and starring Abhishek Bachchan and Bhoomika Chawla (of Tere Naam fame). Kapoor describes the film, which is a remake of a Tamil hit film of the same name, as a “thrilling adventure with a youthful romance”. In it, Bachchan's character meets and falls in love with Chawla's, however this enrages her brother, a local gangster. Do the couple stay or run? The film is released on the 16th April

Meanwhile, Main Hoon Na is one of the most eagerly anticipated Bollywood films of the year and sees the return of one of the most popular Bollywood actors, Shah Rukh Khan, star of Devdas and Chalte Chalte. Ex-choreographer Farah Khan directs it and the music is composed by Anu Malik. In the movie, SRK plays Major Ram Prasad Sharma, a patriotic and loyal son, who is assigned the task of managing mission Milaap, aimed at bridging the political gap between India and Pakistan. However to achieve this he must go undercover at the school that the daughter of a high- ranking general attends, as her life may well be in danger. Here fun, frolics and romance conceal his real intent. Main Hoon Na sees a return to all the traditional values of Hindi Cinema- family, romance, comedy and action and is out on the 30th April

Finally, Dev is a gripping drama that follows the relationship between Joint Commissioner of Police Dev Pratap Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) and Special Commissioner Tejinder Khosla (Om Puri). A bond stronger then blood is put to the test when Dev unwittingly provides the spark that plunges a young man into violence and a young woman into extraordinary circumstances. Set against a backdrop of political corruption, the two friends are set on a path of dramatic collision. This will be out in May, date TBC.
