Film smashes world record!

Bollywood's modern day classic 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' has smashed the world record for the longest running movie in the history of Indian cinema.

The romantic love story captured the hearts of film fans around the globe when it was first released in 1995.

However, the blockbuster has obtained such an immense cult following in film crazy Mumbai, that fans still flock to the Maratha Mandir cinema, where 'DDLJ' has been screening for over 300 weeks now.

The cinema owner states that the audience have memorised many of the film's famous dialogues and will whistle before their favourite song appears.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenga is a story about two British Asians, played by Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, whose paths cross during a trip around Europe with their friends. Romance slowly blossoms between the two and they return home as lovers.

However the girl's father discovers the news and immediately forces the family to pack their bags and return to India, so they can get her married. This leaves our charming hero with the task of following the clan and winning back his bride.

However, this is not the first time that the movie has broken world records. Lead pair Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, as well as whiz kid director Aditya Chopra, have won a record breaking number of awards for 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenga', including a whopping ten Filmfare awards - a number which no film has ever been able to beat.

The film's soundtrack has also sold the highest amount of copies for a Bollywood soundtrack ever.

The film isn't only a success in India, but was a major box office hit in other Bollywood crazy countries such as the UK and US.

It even produced new Bollywood fans in countries such as Hong Kong, where local residents absolutely loved the movie.

To celebrate its biggest success to date, Yashraj Films will release a commemorative cassette, which will tell the story of the epic through its dialogue and songs.
