Special News Feature: British Singer Sir Cliff Richards’ Visit to Subhash Ghai's School in Mumbai

The well-known British singer-composer Sir Cliff Richards last week visited Mukta Arts’ film, television and media arts institute ‘Whistling Woods International’ (WWI) at Goregaon Film City in Mumbai. Meghna Ghai Puri, Director Business Mukta Arts Ltd and Ravi Gupta, Executive Director WWI, were also present on the occasion.

This Rs.50 crore project obviously enticed the singer. “WWI can match up its standards with any film & television school spread across the globe with its state of the art facilities, syllabus, expert faculty and above all with the course fees, which is very reasonable as compared to the other film institutes in the world,” he commented.

Expressing her views on the motto of WWI, Meghna Ghai Puri said, “Today’s need is to cultivate talent and creativity through knowledge and the feedback based on industry experience. And this is the basic element of success. WWI will consistently try to provide the students a good atmosphere and the real opportunities to grow and learn from inspirational industry icons”.

Born as Harry Rodger Webb, Sir Cliff Richards stepped into the music industry in late 50s and from there on the journey of success began to roll on – not only in music but also films. He is the only vocalist in music history who has had number one hits in 1950s, 1960s, 1970, 1980s and 1990s respectively. Mr. Richards was also knighted by HRH Queen Elizabeth II in the year 1995 in return of his sheer involvement in charity works.

So far three internationally acknowledged personalities have visited the film institute WWI including Sir Cliff Richards. Lord Puttnam, the Chancellor of the University of Sunderland, paid a visit first followed by Rob Ritchie and Marilyn Milgrom of The Script Factory UK who conducted a workshop on scriptwriting and screenplay last days organized by WWI in association with the British Council. Interestingly the distinguished personalities of Hindi cinema also attended this event such as Ashutosh Gowarikar, Dev Benegal, Paromita Vohra, Rahul DaCunha, Somnath Sen, Soni Taraporewala, Abbass Tyrewala and others.

Committed to excellence, Whistling Woods International is one of the biggest film institutes in South East Asia and will start functioning from July/October this year.
