RANI
MUKHERJEE
Holding Nothing Back
Rani
Mukherjee, is a popular actress these dayy.
The star started her career in Raja Ki Aayengi
Baraat, which did not do so well. But Rani made
a big impact in Bollywood with Kuch Kuch Hota
Hai, which she stared alongside Shah Rukh Khan
and her cousin Kajol.
We
catched up with Rani a few weeks ago, below
are some questions we put to the female actress.
People
have been talking about your first movie.
Well,
Raja Ki Aayengi Baraat was not really my mistake
into the Bollywood industry. I had to enter
into the industry one day so I thought of doing
that film. Then, I was apporoached for Kuch
Kuch Hota Hai which was a super-hit.
Which film according to you let you up in the
industry?
Well,
looking generally, it was Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
& Ghulam. Then, ofcourse I had a number
of good films.
You've been known as Kajol's cousin. Did this
title help you anyway?
In a way, yes. The hype of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
was much more as I was regarded as Kajol's cousin.
But, still my efforts are also there. Generally
speaking, I never wanted to join in the Bollywood
industry, but I always wanted to become famous
and known to the world. I can feel my ambition
has become true now.
Do you take Kajol as your rival in the Bollywood
industry?
Not
really, cousins are cousins and not some rival.
In any field, if two cousins are there, they
are not compared that much. Anyway, I think
very highly of her. We keep meeting every week
or so. Kajol is obviously made her trade mark
in the Bollywood industry. She is more smart
and talented.
Your
next film, Pyaar Diwana Hota Hai has been postponed
a lot.
Well,
Pyaar Diwana Hota Hai stars me & Govinda.
The film releases this May and ofcourse its
another entertainer with romance. I just hope
the movie is a hit.
In
the past you've had several movies with Govinda.
Any special reason?
Not
exactly. Govinda is a good friend and we both
tag on together very nicely. I enjoy doing films
with him. Generally comedy ones, but Pyaar Diwana
Hota Hai is my first romantic film with him.
What
about Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai?
Bas
Itna Sa Khwab Hai stars me, Abhishek, Jackie
& Sushmita. The promos are already on air
and the movie is good. Frankly speaking, the
movie is Abhishek & Jackie's. I just thought
of doing a different role so I agreed to do
the film.
With
whom would you like to work in your next film?
Anyone,
even an actor making his debut will do. But,
the script should be good and the actor should
have potential and talent.
You've
grown slim over the past few years. What's your
secret?
After
shooting for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, I was really
busy signing up films and I generally used to
get tired and I put on some weight. So, I decided
to sleep at proper time and eat properly, and
that's how I reduced my weight.
Tell
us something about more of your forthcoming
films.
A
movie to watch out is Nayak where I star opposite
Anil Kapoor. I play a village girl. And then,
as mentioned before Pyaar Diwana Hota Hai &
Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai. I'm personally waiting
for Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai to hit the silver
screen, it is one of my best works and I'm happy
about it. The story is entirely different and
a typical new generation-type movie. Then, this
year I'll have Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum also
release. I have a special appearance in the
film.
What's
between you and Preity Zinta? You two intend
to get along quite well.
Preity
Zinta is one of my best friends in the industry.
We've just been casted in two films together
and both along with Salman Khan, so there's
nothing great in it. What's all this hush-hush
about is what I don't understand. Har Dil Jo
Pyar Karega, which didn't fare well at the box-office
was my first film with Preity Zinta. Then, came
Chori Chori Chupke Chupke which was declared
a hit. Both these movies were some good movies
of mine. I intend to do more films with Salman
& Preity. As everyone says, we make the
perfect trio. Maybe, a trio would do after the
Shah rukh - Kajol duo?
