KAREENA KAPOOR
"Someone Did Some Kind Of A Black Magic On Me"

The beautiful Kareena after not a very impressing performance in her debut is with us to share her experience after that, and how she has grown today.

While we were still raving about her exotic look in Asoka, she came out as the trendy Poo in K3G.

A teteatete with the actress on what keeps her going…

Kareena, you being a new comer, how does it feel working with Karan Johar in of the biggest film ever made Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (K3G)?
Karan Johar is the man who can be praised a lot, but still all that praise would be less. He is a true genius and a master of his work and was really great working with him. About K3G I can say that it was the experience of a lifetime to work with the biggest and the strongest star cast in the industry today and I feel that I am very fortunate to have my dream fulfilled at a very early stage of my career.

In the film what is Kareena Kapoor?
Kareena Kapoor in the film plays the character of Pooja, aka Poo, who is very bubbly, belongs to the jet age, but still is very emotional and has the dream to have the whole family together and is willing to do whatever she can and many a times more than that.

The best on-screen couple today Shahrukh and Kajol, how did you feel working with them?
They both are the one, whom I have admired the most and both are few of the best actors that we have right now. It was a learning experience for me working with both of them. I admired them very much in DDLJ and also in KKHH and have neither failed to spread the same magic in K3G too.

After the best on-screen couple how was it working with the legendary actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan?
Though the start was nervous, later we all youngsters became very comfortable working with them. They made us feel at ease and taught us many finer points of acting.

What can you say about Hrithik, with whom at one point of time you were suppose to make your debut in Kaho Na Pyar Hai?
It’s history today for me. For me he is my one of the best buddies and for the same the efforts were put in from both of us and now we make one of the best on-screen pair today.

When you look back today, how do you feel about your growth as an actress?
I started as Nazneen in Refugee and the journey till Poo in K3G taught me to be a good daughter in Yaadein, a wife in Ajnabee, a very simple girl in Asoka as Kaurwaki and many more. What I am really happy about as I have told earlier, is that I got most of the big banners at the very early stage of my career.

What do you feel would be the reason for Asoka being less than an average film at the box office?
I feel that Asoka was not an average film. It was respected through out the world and the audiences loved the performances given by all of us. The film had fantastic music by Annu Malik and lovely picturisation, which I feel that the audiences had never experienced and I am very much proud to be the part of the great film.

After this what all films you have in your kitty?
After K3G I have Kunal Kohli’s Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Sridevi’s Khushi and Sooraj Barjatya’s Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon and many more.

After this can we see Kareena in art films?
It’s too early for me to decide, but I would love to work in those films like my sister Karisma.

What was wrong with you in between?
Someone did some kind of a black magic on me. They tried to do bad things to me and I was struck badly by typhoid. Then we tried out various things and my sister believes in homeopathic medicine. So she took me to a doctor and got me treated. My schedules went haywire because of that, but now I am fine.

What have you done about the black magic bit?
See, if someone does something wrong to you, they will get it back. And I am sure that person will be affected soon.

What about your ambition of being No 1…
I have never said that I want to be No 1.
I just want to be known as a very good actress. I have come here to work every hard and be great. Nutan, Madhubala and Nargis were all great actresses. They were in films around the same time, But no one said who was no 1 among them. Similarly there have been people like my sister Karisma, Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi and they have all been great. I too wish to be like them. As for the No 1 spot, the contendor and the spot holder keep changing. Recently there was this girl who gave two hits and everyone said that’s he was number one. But now that she got a flop a few weeks ago, she has been written off.

What now?
I am looking forward to Sooraj Barjatya’s Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon. It will be a very good film for me.
