Taking It Step By Step

Tell us about your first film release.
My first release is going to be Boney Kapoor's Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche. The film is directed by Vinay Shukla and my co-star in the film is Aftab Shivdasani. It's actually a very mature role for a newcomer and the story has a strong sense of drama. I like the character I am playing in the film.

What was your first day of shooting like?
I was extremely nervous. My first shoot was with Hritik Roshan in Na Tum Jaano Na Hum although it was my second film. It was a dance sequence that we had already rehearsed for earlier. There were a lot of people and I was getting quite tensed. But then I did a few steps and everyone around us applauded. Wow! I knew then that I had definitely arrived.

Was the decision to come into films, totally yours?
Of course it was. Nobody pressurised me to take this up as a career. I had been getting acting offers for a while and my mother approached me once and asked me whether I would be interested, and I said yes. Then she said "Oh, so you want to act." (Starts giggling again.)
