RADIO SARGAM INTERVIEW: DEEPAK TIJORI

Q: Your latest film Khamosh recently released. Is it similar to your first film at all?

Khamosh is an unconvential again. May be I am trying to prove a point!

Q: How did you manage to complete the film in such a short time?

Most of my actors have been new comers that made it possible and where Shilpa and Juhi were concerned we had blocked them in advance so that they do not coincide with other producers.

Q: Shilpa Shetty is the pivotal character of Khamosh. What was the special reason to sign her only in this major role amongst the horde of other talented-good looking actresses in industry?

According to me Shilpa was apt for this role and I think she has a lot of potential and to me I feel Shilpa is good looking and talented as any other actress in industry.

Q: How was the experience working with Juhi Chawla, who is also performing in your film?

Juhi has added a lot of importance to this film and she too was the correct cast for this role and she has a totally different and fresh look…since I go back many years with Juhi it has been a pleasant experience working with her once again.

Q: There are a number of newcomers in Khamosh. Do you feel this can harm the movie’s worth in the market and amongst the audience?

The names who are stars have their own groups they work in and they do two films a year so where do you expect us film makers to go…?

Q: Your directorial debut ‘Oops’ became controversial due to the bold subject. Do you think, it was good to make a flick on a very bold theme for the Indian audience who can even take it in a negative way also?

I made the film for my satisfaction. I had a story to tell people so I did!

Q: Why did you stop your acting career? Usually filmstars turn towards filmmaking after they have enjoyed and satisfied their soul with acting. What made you turn to filmmaking so suddenly?

The roles offered to me were not up to my satisfaction so I turned my face towards gratifying my creative instincts.

Q: Your next film ‘Fareb’ is complete also. What’s the story all about?

An emotional thriller of a man torn apart between two women and the trauma he and his family has to go through over his fatal attraction.

Q: How was working with Shilpa Shetty again then sister Shamita Shetty and above all Manoj Bajpai?

Manoj Bajpai is one of the best actors we have and a very good human being. To have worked with him was rejuvenating my creative juices. To having worked with the two sisters who are thoroughly professional and equally competitive was a challenge. All three of them have made this film a class apart.

Q: What do you do in your spare time though you are a busy person but if you find a bit of free time what you do to enjoy it?

I have all the time but my mind does not have any spare time because it keeps ticking for more….so I guess I am always working in my free time.

Q: Your favorite place to spend holidays?

My bedroom.

Q: Your favorite food?

Daal Chawal

Q: Your zodiac sign?

Virgo

Q: Favorite dress?

Jeans and T-Shirt

Q: Who is the actual Deepak…an actor or a filmmaker? What field you enjoy the most between the two genres or you find yourself comfortable with?

A film maker. I fit myself well as a film maker because I like to be a story teller.

Q: Any new projects on floor?

I will be taking the next projects on the floors produced by Oracle Entertainment – Makers of Fun...Dayal Creations next project after ‘Fareb’.
