FILMFARE AWARDS 2004!
Robeel Haq Comments On Ceremony...

The annual Filmfare awards took place with the usual fanfare in India recently. This year's big winner was the blockbuster Koi Mil Gaya, which won many of the major awards, including Best Film, Best Actor (Hrithik Roshan), Best Director (Rakesh Roshan) and Best Choreography (Farah Khan). Hrithik Roshan also won the Critics Award for Best Actor, although winning both Best Actor awards did raise a few eyebrows within the industry. "I was stunned. After winning the first Best Actor award, I really didn't expect the second one," Hrithik later told reporters.

Kal Ho Na Ho wasn't forgotten either at the ceremony. The film bagged Best Actress (Preity Zinta), Best Supporting Actress (Jaya Bachchan), Best Supporting Actor (Saif Ali Khan), Best Male Singer (Sonu Nigam), Best Music Directors (Shankar Ehsan Loy) and Best Lyricist (Javed Akhtar).

Performances on the night got a mixed response. Fardeen Khan did his best despite a recent injury, Urmila Matondkar looked ravishing during her Bhoot routine (although most expected a performance to Meherbaan from Tehzeeb), and Kareena Kapoor paid a touching tribute to her sister Karisma Kapoor. In turn, Karisma came on stage to thank Kareena and the organisers. "Thank you everyone for making me feel so special. This feeling is usually reserved for someone getting the Lifetime Achievement Award and I am very touched. I am extremely happy because my whole family is here tonight for me. Thank you and I love this film industry."

Other note worthy winners included the Filmfare Power Award (Amitabh Bachchan & Shah Rukh Khan), Critics Best Actress Award (Urmila Matondkar), and Critics Best Director Award (Rajkumar Hirani for Munna Bhai MBBS).
