The wait is finally over! Over the last few weeks Indian film fans based in the U.S. have been casting their votes for the Bollywood Awards 2001. The response has been fantastic and organisers for the annual ceremony have finally announced the nominations for each category.
The Bollywood awards, (The Peoples Choice) have been instituted with a vision that the choice of the movie fans is the choice that will prevail. Organisers promise that the third Bollywood Awards will be an electrifying event - which is a good job, considering the fact that it will be viewed by over 400 million viewers on television, cable, Internet, satellite all around the globe!
Now the clock starts ticking for the big day itself, April 28th 2001, when we all find out who has won what. Until then, here is a list of the contenders for each category, as well as a sneak peak at some of the winners.
As well as the usual categories, there will also be a variety of special awards handed out on the night. Dev Anand is on the top of the list, winning the 'Evergreen Star of the Millennium' Award for his contribution to Indian cinema over the decades. The Hollywood based producer Ashok Amritraj will receive the 'Pride of India' Award.
