PHIR MILLENGE (2004)

Producer: Sahara Manoranjan Creation
Director: Revathy
Cast: Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Abhishek Bachchan
Music: Shankar-Ehsan-Loy, Nikhil-Vinay and Bhavatha Raja
Lyrics: Prasoon Joshi and Sameer
Audio: T-Series
Number of Songs: 08

1) Jeene Ke Ishaare (Shankar)
The opening track, “Jeene Ke Ishaare” is the best musical piece of work in the album. Shankar Mahadevan catches the rhythm superbly and seems in his true elements. An unidentified female vocalist provides Shankar soothing support to make the song more appealing for the listeners. A rhythmically soften love song, it has the potential to be rated as one of this year’s musical masterpieces. The guitar is the main instrument, which takes place throughout the song and sounds great. The sounds of clapping and jhankaar are soothing. Prasoon Joshi sketches philosophy in his impressive lyrics, whilst the composition by SEL (Shankar-Ehsan-Loy) does the rest to prepare a charming chart buster. The video stars Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty and displays creative direction as well. A touching and hummable song, it simply cheers you up.
Rating: 9/10

2) Beetab Dil (Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghosal)
“Beetab Dil” is a brilliant effort by the singers. Both Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghosal do full justice to this melodious love duet. The pleasant blend of flute and dholak sprinkles romance and the beautifully written love words by Sameer grow with the theme perfectly. Since the duo of Nikhil-Vinay is very much popular for scoring pure romantic composition, they continue this practice wonderfully and appealingly here too.
Rating: 8/10

3) Beetab Dil - Sad Version (Sonu Nigam)
Sonu Nigam sings the sad version solely. This versatile singer does not need any kind of introduction at this stage of his career, since he is perfectly capable of delivering any type of song with brilliance and expertise. This is a good song.
Rating: 8/10

4) Khushiyon Ki Koshish (Srinivas and Mahalaxmi Iyer)
The album continues its journey with “Khushiyon Ki Koshish” – a number that is a literary piece of work. A philosophical song, it revolves around natural poetry. Srinivas and Mahalaxmi Iyer mesmerize the listeners with their pleasing vocals. Prasoon Joshi maintains the rhythm well with the carefully and creatively penned lyrics, which are gorgeously composed in SEL’s true trademark style. This song is like a magnum opus and deserves repeated hearings like the opening track, “Jeene Ke Ishaare”.
Rating: 8.5/10

5) Phir Milenge (Vijay Yesudas and Febi)
The title track, Phir Milenge is very brief and sung by Vijay Yesudas and Febi. The singers impress with their assignments of singing. So does the composition arranged by Bhavatha Raja.
Rating: 8/10

6) Kuch Pal (Vijay Yesudas)
Vijay Yesudas is once again featured on the album for the song “Kuch Pal”. This slow number showcases Yesudas’s remarkable skill of singing for which he deserves praises. Piano and jhankaar stick out the most amongst the instruments. Lyrics written by Prasoon Joshi are also the highlight of the song. So is the music by Bhavatha Raja. This is absolutely an appreciable effort by the entire team.
Rating: 8/10

7) Khul Ke Muskarale (Bombay Jayshree)
Bombay Jayshree renders a poetic number, Khul Ke Muskarale. Her rendition generally sounds pleasant but at places loses its impact. Prasoon Joshi writes natural poetry, which does appeal but for the hoi polloi (commoners) listeners, is hard to digest and understand. SEL scores a sober composition that is very easy on ears. The song makes a good hearing.
Rating: 6.5/10

8) Yaad Hai Who Pehli Mulaqat (Abhijeet)
The soundtrack concludes with “Yaad Hai Who Pehli Mulaqat” – a sad version of “Jeene Ke Ishaare”. Abhijeet is electrically better in his delivery. Sameer uses his pen justifiably to write different lyrics, which have good weight to attract the listeners’ hearts. SEL arrange magical music. This concluding track speaks for itself.
Rating: 8/10

Overall:
Phir Milenge carries soft-melodious songs, which are certainly worth a listen. Three composers have been hired to render their services and luckily no one makes any deficiency in their assigned work. SEL, the main musicians, have already been playing a handsome innings over the years, ooze out as a huge attraction for the listeners of this soundtrack of Phir Milenge. Potentially a sober-rhythmic album, it can generate vast sales if promoted well.
Overall Rating: 9/10
