Here comes Vidhu Vinod Chopra along with his upcoming comedy Munnabhai MBBS featuring Sanjay Dutt and Sunil Dutt together for the very first time in the history of Hindi cinema. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani this time around, Vidhu Chopra becomes the producer of the enterprise. Rahat Indori, Abbass Tyrewala, Farhad and Joi together they all write lyrics for the film, which are complimented by Anu Malik's composition. The soundtrack offers six songs and has been released by Universal.

(1) M Bole Tu (Vinod Rathod, Sanjay Dutt, Prachi and Priya Mayekar)
The soundtrack welcomes the listeners with the title song, M Bole Tu. Vinod Rathod, Sanjay Dutt, Prachi and Priya Mayekar team up to render this tapori type of number. The track starts off well with the excellently delivered dialogues by Sanjay Dutt. Dutt again appears in the song with his catchy rendition. Sanju Baba has been focusing more on acquiring tapori roles in films over the years and no doubt he completely agrees with these characters. Besides the audience likes him more in comic roles than the action-packed characters. On the contrary, the veteran vocalist Vinod Rathod superbly manages the vocals. His energetic rendition captures the breath. Prachi and Priya Mayekar do well with their singing assignments as well. Background chorus seems pleasant on the ears. The dhol and drum are the instruments, which outshine most amongst others. Rahat Indori fulfills his duty of penning lyrics for the song, which seem average if we single them out but while listening the song, they start growing on you. Yesteryear's renowned musician's heir Anu Malik (Today's hot music director) arranges flawless music for the song, which provides energies once you listen it. The track is on air these days and the visuals starr Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Varsi playing pranks on fellows. Though the composition and quality singing of the vocalists impress but this track would be liked most by the youth since it has been targeted on them actually. Currently the number is also doing well on the charts.
Rating: 7/10

(2) Dekh Le (Sunidhi Chauhan and Anu Malik)
The duo of Sunidhi Chauhan and Anu Malik polishes up the singing skills with a peppy duet, Dekh Le. The song is opened with a pleasant chorus followed by the sultry voice of Sunidhi who spells magic with the vocals. Boisterous Anu showcases his flawless efforts of singing through his rendition. Joi's average lyrics are well composed by the majestic musician Anu Malik. Though the lyrics have nothing special to offer but the spellbinding singing and the excellently composed music keep the momentum of the song. I think Anu Malik likes this number a lot, which is why he also presents the other version of this track next on the album.
Rating: 6.5/10

(3) Apun Jaisa Tapori (Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Varsi and Vinod Rathod)
Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Varsi and Vinod Rathod joining hands together…give us another tapori song to listen to. "Apun Jaisa Tapori" can go waste provided that the speaking sections of Sanjay and Arshad are not there in the song. Both do a splendid job in singing and special mention is also due for Vinod who displays his commendable rendition delightfully. To give the musician the due credit for arranging the musical instruments accurately, one should praise the perfect use of drums, whistle, shehnai and piano respectively. Abbass Tyrewala could not handle the theme of the song while penning lyrics, which are mellifluously composed by Anu Malik. The whole saga of the number is that with the excellent efforts of the singers and the composer, the song could have done more, but falls short due to the badly written lyrics. Nevertheless one can enjoy the essence of the audible dialogue deliveries of Sanjay and Arshad.
Rating: 5/10

(4) Chann Chann (Shreya Ghosal and Vinod Rathod)
A soft- supple romantic duet "Chann Chann" sung by Shreya Ghosal and Vinod Rathod comes up next on the album. The singers' vocals are mellifluously rendered. Shreya sounds superb on her silken rendition whereas Vinod rocks with his marvelously managed voice. The fusion of flute and dholak seems stupendous. The lyrics by Farhad convey the mood of romance accurately and Anu Malik creates pleasing orchestration for the joys of the listeners. "Chann Chann" can be rated the best song of the soundtrack due to the impeccable works of the team attached to it. This melodious duet is sure to become popular in the charts once the visuals released.
Rating: 8/10

(5) Subah Ho Gayi Mamu (Shaan)
Shaan bags a hilarious track "Subah Ho Gayi" for himself. Though Shaan becomes beautiful in singing but his rendition does not leave us thirsting for more. Abbass Tyrewala's ridiculous lyrics and Anu Malik's side-splitting composition hammer the song badly. To listen this number for once or more would be a waste of time altogether.
Rating: 2.0/10

(6) Dekh Le…. Remix Version (Sunidhi Chauhan and Anu Malik)
A remix fast paced version of "Dekh Le" locks up the album. Once again Sunidhi and Anu fasten their belts to sing this song. The singers' duo does well with the vocals. The seductive voice of Sunidhi eats the breath whereas Anu's singing has good tempo as well. Anu tries to make this track peppier with the rap pieces injected forcefully but fails in raising the enthusiasm of the listeners. Jai again writes average lyrics and then Anu's efforts of fixing this fault with his bombastically scored composition work to some extent.
Rating: 5.5/10

Overall: Vidhu Vinod Chopra…. a name which always gives a pleasant-soothing music to hear. Look at his past works…"Parinda, 1942-A Love Story" and "Kareeb" become the true evidence of this reality. Here with Munnabhai MBBS, he couldn't outshine as per the high expectations of his fans. Although the flick's soundtrack is audible but does not represent the taste of Vidhu Vinod Chopra at all.
Overall Rating: 6/10
