Radio Sargam Music Review: Kyon Ki...

Producer: Mukesh Talreja and Sunil Manchanda
Director: Priyadarshan
Cast: Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor
Music: Himesh Reshammiya
Lyricist: Sameer with one song penned by Sanjay Chhel
Singers: Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Radha, Kunal Ganjawala and Shaan
Songs: 09
Audio: T-Series

1) Kyon Ki Itna (Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik)
The much-awaited soundtrack to Salman Khan's latest film Kyon Ki starts off with the title track featuring Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. Both entice the souls with their renditions. The song is based on a catchy melody that leaves the listener mesmerized. Sameer and Himesh Reshammiya have been hired once again by Mukesh Talreja and Sunil Manchanda to handle the music after the blockbuster success of ‘Tere Naam’. Sameer's lyrics hold the listener’s attention quickly. Ditto goes for Himesh Reshammiya’s very melodious tunes, which register huge impacts. The visuals, featuring dashing Salman Khan and gorgeous Kareena Kapoor, look stunning. This romantic number is a potential chartbuster and is already making it big on all satellite channels.
Rating: 9/10

2) Kyon Ki Itna – Adlib Version (Alka Yagnik)
The title track has three more versions on the album. Normally the different versions of original tracks on Bollywood soundtracks fail to leave any long term effect on the listener. Luckily Alka Yagnik sings this adlib version with her usual brilliance and the end affect is good.
Rating: 8/10

3) Kyon Ki Itna – Third Version (Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik)
Udit and Alka come together to deliver this duet version of ‘Kyon Ki’ and handle it with ease.
Rating: 7.5/10

4) Kyon Ki – Fourth Version (Udit Narayan and Radha)
The fourth version brings in newcomer Radha with the maestro Udit Narayan. This song focuses more on vocals than the profound flow of music and here it succeeds. Radha doesn’t sound like a newcomer, but rather an experienced singer. Udit needs no praiseworthy words since he is a vocalist of class.
Rating: 8/10

5) Dil Keh Raha Hai (Kunal Ganjawala)
Another superb romantic number, ‘Dil Keh Raha Hai’ appears next on the soundtrack. This one is pocketed by Kunal Ganjawala, who does a great job in this foot-tapping track with his electrifying vocals. Sameer's lyrics will appeal particularly to the youth market. The drumbeat is the main instrument that is played with much energy and sounds great on the ears. This type of song is ideal for superstar Salman Khan - let’s wait for the video.
Rating: 9.5/10

6) Dil Keh Raha Hai – Remix Version (Kunal Ganjawala)
The remix version is fast paced so it straightaway loses the effects of the original.
Rating: 1/10

7) Dil Ke Badle Sanam (Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik)
The album offers yet another romantic duet. ‘Dil Ke Badle Sanam’ endows you with the virtuosos of singing Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik who crop up once again on the album to render the lines. Both of them do the job with aplomb. The lyrics are okay and the music is just passable. Nonetheless the song is audible due to the good singing of the vocalists.
Rating: 4.5/10

8) Jhatka Maare (Udit Narayan and Shaan)
Since ‘dupatta’, ‘chunariya’, ‘chooriyan’ etc are the words/subjects which have been used earlier in their creations by the pair of lyricist Sameer and musician Himesh Reshammiya, this one number gives you ‘dupatta’ once again but with fun-filled style as the lyrics go like ‘Goli Maare Tera Dupatta’. This ched-chad song, ‘Jhatka Maare’ begins with the excellently delivered vocals by Kailash Kher followed by Udit Narayan and Shaan who liven up the mood superbly. The track is good lyrically and musically.
Rating: 8/10

9) Aa Je Le Ik Pal Mein Sau Janam (Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik)
The album concludes with ‘Aa Je Le Ik Pal Mein’ that is like a sparkling wine in terms of vocals, lyrics and music. The whole team does excellent job thus making this track a class of its own. A mellifluous conclusion to the rhythmic soundtrack.
Rating: 8.5/10

Overall:
The soundtrack of Kyon Ki is elegant and swanky. The album gives Mukesh Talreja and Sunil Manchanda another great, romantic soundtrack after the runaway success of ‘Tere Naam’. The commendable and intelligent team of lyricist Sameer and composer Himesh Reshammiya score once again.
Overall Rating: 8/10
