Everyone’s talking about the forthcoming romantic comedy Kyon Ho
Gaya Na because of the Aishwarya Rai-Vivek Oberoi pairing. Bollywood fanatics
are catching the real life couple on screen for the first time. Whilst
songs from the film have started appearing on the small screen, Radio
Sargam checks out the full soundtrack, by the increasingly popular Shankar-Ehsan-Loy!
1) Pyaar Mein Sau (Shankar Mahadevan, Vijay Prakash, Mahalaxmi
and Sneha Pant)
The opening track, “Pyaar Mein Sau” is the magnum opus of
the entire album. It’s really a different and innovative song. The
track features the skillfully executed and energetic vocals of Shankar
Mahadevan, Vijay Prakash, Mahalaxmi and Sneha Pant. The chorus is easy
on ears. The instruments’ arrangement provides plenty of excitement.
Javed Akhtar infuses magic in words and SEL arranges tremendous orchestra,
which quickly catches the attention. The video starring Vivek Oberoi and
Aishwarya Rai features brilliantly dance sequences, catchy cinematography
and attractive direction. The creativity of the entire team deserves distinction
marks.
Rating: 9/10
2) No No (Kunal Ganjawala, Dominique Cerejo, Loy Mendonca, Chetan
Shashital and Shankar)
An extremely upbeat track follows next, composed entirely with western
beats. A large team of vocalists, ranging from Kunal Ganjawala, Dominique
Cerejo, Loy Mendonca, Chetan Shashital and Shankar sings this song. The
whole singing team performs well. Their boisterous renditions are simply
stupendous. The worthy lyrics carry adequate weight as well. Actively
arranged instruments sound pleasurable on the ears. The song should appeal
mainly to the youngsters. Overall, it is an energetic piece of work and
a treat to hear in a rhythmic mood.
Rating: 8.5/10
3) Aao Na (Sadhana Sargam and Udit Narayan)
A mellow romantic duet, “Aao Na” awaits you next on the album.
A feel-good song, it has smooth lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Sadhana arrests
the soul with her silken voice. Udit Narayan as usual proves that he is
a legend in this field. This song surely makes one’s mood happy.
The pleasing blend of the flute, jhankaar and piano showcases the musicians’
creative sense completely. SEL soothe the listeners with their soft composition.
This track would be a gift for those who love romantic songs.
Rating: 8.5/10
4) Main Hoon (Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan)
“Main Hoon” features Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan. Both portray
their usual expertise in singing beautifully. The lyrics are just about
okay whilst the music truly displays SEL material. The song manages to
hold some appeal for the listeners.
Rating: 7.5/10
5) Baat Samjha Karo (Chetan Shashital, Shankar Mahadevan and
Javed Ali)
Next emerges a gift for Big B’s lovers, “Baat Samjha Karo”
but unfortunately for them, Amitabh Bachchan does not sing it! Instead
Chetan Shashital provides some full-throated vocals. Shankar Mahadevan
and Javed Ali do justice to their respective jobs. The chorus is effective
also. Javed Sahib designs his creativity in lyrics. Musical assignment
done by SEL is fine. If judged overall, despite good work of the whole
team - the song lacks somewhere and does not pick the as well as the previous
tracks. But one thing is certain, the number will surely make an impression
on screen due to the presence of Big B.
Rating: 6.5/10
6) Dheere Dheere (Shankar Mahadevan)
The last track, “Dheere Dheere” is quite decent. Sung magnificently
by Shankar Mahadevan, it is a slow romantic number. The song is good lyrically
too. The music stuff is simply excellent. A very nice attempt to end the
soundtrack.
Rating: 8.5/10
Overall:
Shankar-Ehsan-Loy have created a quality reputation because of their sheer
hard work. There is absolutely no denying their creative minds, which
coerce them to produce something different. “KHGN” is a classy
album laced with innovations, will definitely find its place amongst one’s
collection.
Overall Rating: 9.5/10
