Music Review: Insan (2005)

Producer: Keshu Ramsay
Director: K. Subash
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Tushar Kapoor, Esha Deol, Lara Dutta, Koena Mitra and Laila
Music: Himesh Reshammiya
Lyrics: Sameer
Singers: Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan and Kunal Ganjawala
Songs: 09

1) Chunri Re (Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik)
“Chunri Re” unzips the album. Himesh thinks he is the true fit for “Chunri/Dupatta” subjects, which is why he likes to have at least song on this subject almost in his every album. But for how long the listeners can digest this continued saga of Himesh Sahib? Anyway let’s come to this particular song “Chunri Re”. Although both the singers do fairly well, their good is wasted here due to the damage of Himesh's repetition. The song is poor both lyrically and musically as well. This makes an altogether boring opening to the album.
Rating: 1.5/10

2) Chunri Re (Instrumental)
After complaining about the vocal version we heard earlier, the appearance of an instrumental version certainly doesn't help matters. This one is instantly skipped!
Rating: 1/10

3) Rabba Mere Rabba (Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik)
Udit and Alka come to oblige the musician Himesh Reshammiya in “Rabba Mere Rabba”. The song is melodious but not very effective on the ears. The singers seem nondescript in their jobs. Sameer uses his stock-work to write lyrics, which are plain all the way. Himesh’s composition is not earth shattering either. This track appears in two more versions next on the album.
Rating: 1/10

4) Rabba Mere Rabba – Sad (Alka Yagnik)
The sad version is short in length and slow in pace. Alka falls flat once again. The song helps you search for some good song on the play list but unfortunately the instrumental of the same version awaits you next.
Rating: 1/10

5) Rabba Mere Rabba (Instrumental)
No thanks! Five tracks so far and only two actual songs... not impressive!
Rating: 1/10

6) Rain Rain (Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan)
Thank goodness we finally have a good hummable tune in “Rain Rain” sung electrically and with versatility by the duo of Shaan and Sunidhi. A fast sounding beat gels well with the song's theme. The lyrics and music are decent also.
Rating: 7.5/10

7) Rain Rain (Sunidhi Chauhan)
“Rain Rain” too emerges in second version as a solo of Sunidhi Chauhan but you don’t mind giving it a complete listen. Sunidhi shines with the heights of her full of throat vocals.
Rating: 7/10

8) Khwahish (Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik)
The sweet vocals of Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik appear in “Khwahish”. Sameer spells his magic also and Himesh goes at the top in this track. The song makes pleasing hearing.
Rating: 8/10

9) Is Tarah Deewane (Kunal Ganjawala and Sunidhi Chauhan)
The soundtrack concludes with “Is Tarah Deewane”. Sunidhi is noisy but at places looks pleasant whereas Kunal runs like clockwork and attracts. Sameer is passable with lyrics and Himesh pelts down with the routine music.
Rating: 2.5/10

Overall:
Insan is a complete shamble. The whole team have disappointed. This ill-sounding album will certainly damage the movie’s value.
Overall Rating: 2.5/10
