HAASIL
Director: Tigmanshu Dhulia
Music: Jatin-Lalit
Lyrics: Various
Producer: Karma Network Ltd
Starring: Jimmy Shergill, Hrishita Bhatt, Irfan Khan, Raj Zutshi, Tinnu
Anand, Sharad Saxena & Sudhir Pandey
Jatin-Lalit are back to reclaim their numero uno position after the stupendous
success of Kuch Kuch Hota Hain and some unfortunate misses like Phir Bhi
Dil Hain Hindustani. 'Haasil' may be the key that unlocks their good fortunes
even though the star cast is pretty average. Directed by writer Tigmanshu
Dhulia, Haasil stars "Punjab da puttar" Jimmy Shergill, Hrishita Bhatt
(after her admirable performances in Asoka and Shararat), Irfan Khan,
Raj Zutshi, Tinnu Anand, Sharad Saxena and Sudhir Pandey. Jimmy and Hrishita
come back together after their enjoyable performance in Dil Vil Pyar Vyar.
The album boasts of many lyricists Israr Ansari, Kauser Pandey, Vinoo
Mahendra, Satyaprakash and Devmani Pandey.
Aankhen Bhi Hoti Hai Dil Ki Zubaan
The opening track is enjoyable and Abhijeet's solo singing along with
some great loving lyrics give the album a jump-start! A romantic number,
which is Jatin-Lalit's forte, makes you want to listen to the song again
and again. Aur kya all over again! Romantic and soul-searching.
RATING: 7/10
Ankhon Main Tumhari
Shaan is joined by Shweta and Shraddha Pandit, Jatin and Lalit's nieces,
but shows that he too can hold his own in this track. He shines through
the not so impressive lyrics. JL try to differentiate this track from
the first, using very modern music techniques. Lots more drums, could
it be JL are trying to go the SEL way!
RATING: 4/10
Zindagi Ko Nayi Zindagi
Udit Narayan makes his appearance on the album with a duet with Sonali
Bajpayee. A romantic rendition, Udit at what he does best. Its been some
time since I have heard his voice. All the tracks seem to be sung by either
Sonu Nigam or Adnan Sami, although both are also outstanding singers,
Udit just manages to hold your attention that little bit longer! Both
Indian and western meet together to create something absolutely beautiful.
RATING: 7/10
Kisi Ne Mera
Another Shaan track but this time a solo, fast-paced reminding us of KKHH's
(name of college song!!!). Shaan sings brilliantly with JL's creative
composition. Shaan is joined by two unknown artistes not mentioned in
the credits
RATING: 4/10
Ab Ghar Aaja
New singer Javed Ali provides the album with a semi classical track, reciting
raags, but taking the lyrics in mind. Again something JL have not done
before. A track, which compliments JL music with classical vocals, a mix
that seems to gel very well.
RATING: 6/10
Police Case Na Ban Jaye
Richa Sharma lends her voice to a really bad track. With such a good album
JL decide to add in a bad track which could be damaging.
RATING: 1/10
Tu Hi Tu
Newcomer Javed Ali joins with Roop Kumar Rathod for a classical track.
The lyrics are justified to the composition, although lyricist Israr Ansari
could have been a bit more adventurous. The appearance of a guitar adds
the 80's feel to the song like the Parda Parda song from Amar Akbar Anthony!
RATING: 3/10
OVERALL:
On the whole the soundtrack is a good effort from Jatin Lalit, unfortunately
it does meet the standards of Kuch Kuch Hota Hain.
OVERALL RATING: 4/10
