The promos of Footpath are making waves these days on all usual satellite
channels by generating curiosity for the release date of the film amongst
movie lovers. The film is produced by Mukesh Bhatt and directed by Vikram
Bhatt, with the likes of Aftab Shivdasani, Bipasha Basu and Rahul Dev
in pivotal roles. Thought there are ample hot scenes between Aftab and
Bipasha, The Bhatt Bannner itself is enough to pull in a crowd. This year,
they have already given magnificent hits like Jism and Saaya. The music
of Footpath has hit the market and is being praised for the melodious
tunes packed in the soundtrack. The renowned pair of music maestros, Nadeem-Shravan
have composed the album together with Himesh Rishamiya who arranges his
tunes for one song in this soundtrack. Lyricist, Sameer manages to pull
of some beautiful lyrics for the film.
1- Saari Raat Teri Yaad (Udit and Alka)
Saari Raat Teri Yaad, a melodious song rendered by the sweet
sounds of Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. unfolds the album. The crystal
clear voices of the singers impress. Both the vocalists have rich experience
to their credits, which is vividly clear through the vocals. Amongst the
instruments, the arrangement of dholak and jhankaar stick out most. The
popular and hot lyricist of today, Sameer pens good lyrics here. The whole
team attached to the song impresses except the duo Nadeem-Shravan, who
seem to be pretty ordinary here. Their musical beauty does not attract.
The visuals of the song are on air currently featuring the likes of Aftab
and Bipasha in the lead. The direction and the cinematography appeal whilst
the choreography is just ok. The song can be listened once or twice.
Rating: 6/10
2- Chain Aapko Mila (S. P. Balasupramanium and Asha Bhonsle)
A romantic duet by S. P. and Asha Bhonsle appears next on the
album. This song of Bala and Asha is one of the best songs of the album.
Both the vocalists immerse themselves completely in the mood of the song
and there come purified romantic vocals as a result of their efforts.
It seems nice to hear S. P. after such a long time alongside legendary
Asha. S. P.'s vocals take us back to the early days of Salman Khan's career
when he used to render his vocals for the macho Khan. The beauty of his
voice is that it takes the listeners to the world of ecstasy. Legendary
Asha does wonders with this song (Chain Aapko) with her sharp vocals.
Amongst the instruments used by Nadeem-Shravan, drumming, piano, violin
and baja stick out and spread romance all around. Sameer's pure romantic
lyrics gel well with the theme of the song. Nadeem-Shravan impress with
their immaculate tunes. Chain Aapko Mila is an award-winning song all
the way and makes good hearing whenever listened.
Rating: 9/10
3- Dost Milte Hain (Kumar Sanu)
A tragic number, Dost Milte Hain comes Kumar Sanu's way. The
song is about the injustice of friends and life altogether. Kumar displays
his magic in this song. It's a Sanu's song all the way. Chorus in the
background seems perfect as per the mood of the track. All instruments
in the background attract. The philosophical lyrics by Sameer philosophise
the listeners. Nadeem-Shravan come up with a stupendous tune here. Overall
an audible song from all angles.
Rating: 8/10
4- Kitna Pagal Hai (Abhijeet and Alka)
A melodious song, Kitna Pagal Hai lands up next having the duo
of Abhijeet and Alka doing the honours. Abhijeet catches the listeners'
breath with his sharp and well-managed vocals. His delivery of “La La
La” and “Hey Hey” is rather haunting. Alka, too impresses, taking the
listeners to the world of magic with her sweet voice. Getting drowned
in creative ideas, Sameer writes accurate lyrics for the amusement of
the listeners. The only weakness of the song is its composition, which
is not up to the Nadeeem-Shravan standard. Though it sounds pleasant on
ears it hints at a similar composition from Raaz. The song is currently
running on all usual music channels and will stay with the listeners for
a limited period of time.
Rating: 6.5/10
5- Zara Dekh Mera (Udit and Alka)
Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik pocket a sad song, Zara Dekh Mera.
The song is about the mental situation of the lovers who think that they
can't live without each other. Both singers, once again render crystal
clear vocals. Dholak and piano take the lead amongst the instruments.
Unfortunately Nadeem-Shravan lack innovation in their composition, and
churn out a routine musical score for their fans. Due to their so-so composition
the song becomes passable.
Rating: 5/10
6- Dost Milte Hain…Second Version (Alka Yagnik)
Alka Yagnik fetches the second version of Dost Milte Hain (A
tragic number). Her vocals catch the listeners' attention at once. Chorus
in the background seems pleasant on ears. Sameer's lyrics again come under
philosophy's definition, and Nadeem-Shravan impress with their gorgeous
music. The entire song comes easily on ears and has major repeat value.
Rating: 8/10
7- Soorat Pe Teri (K.K, Hema Sardesai and Jayesh)
A Punjabi song, Soorat Pe Teri wraps up the album. Rendered by
K.K, Hema and Jayesh, the song grows with the listeners. All the vocalists
manage the rhythm perfectly. Lyrics by Sameer are adequate, with Himesh
Rishamiya, the guest musician, arranging the tunes accurately. Overall
the song is listenable.
Rating: 7/10
The soundtrack of Footpath is rhythmical and carries audible songs altogether.
With the Bhatt and Nadeem-Shravan collaboration one is rarely disappointed
and so is the case for Footpath. Maybe, just maybe, we'll be seeing some
award nominations for this album. Definitely one to buy.
