1) Pehle Se (Kunal Ganjawala and Shreya Ghoshal)
Fareb starts off pretty well with the spellbinding song, ‘Pehle
Se’. Sung by today’s hot vocalist Kunal Ganjawala (who is
not only stealing hearts but also the awards from every award function)
and Shreya Ghoshal, the number carries the feeling of pain as what wrong
has gone between the protagonists! Kunal chips in his unique style of
electrifyingly high-pitched delivery. The depth in his voice is what captures
the listener's attention. Shreya is another young lass of the music scenario
whom the music aficionados love to listen since she presents her job with
gusto. The same goes here with this track. Sayeed Quadri pens captivating
poetry for composer Anu Malik who then churns out apt tunes. The end result
is a commendable and melodious track. The visuals featuring Manoj and
Shilpa go well with the theme of the song. This track is featured in a
remix and an instrumental version also next on the album.
Rating: 9/10
2) Pehle Se – Remix Version
The remix version, composed by a guest musician Vishwajeet, glides well
on you, as it is laced with a hip-hop touch.
Rating: 8/10
3) Pehle Se – Instrumental
It has become a fashion amongst the music companies to put instrumental
versions in film albums to fill the gaps and even most of the time they
do not look like gap-fillers and rather appear to be the forcibly entered
stuff. Ditto for this instrumental of ‘Pehle Se’ that has
nothing novelty to offer and looks weird.
Rating: 1/10
4) Baras Ja Ae Badal (Sunidhi Chauhan)
A fast-paced highly energetic track, ‘Baras Ja Ae Badal’ comes
next with Sunidhi Chauhan who sings with aplomb. This lively number instantly
catches your attention and prompts repeated hearings. Sending the chill
through the body, the song registers impacts on lyrics and helps you dance
vigorously to the electric beats of Anu Malik. The video is also eye pleasing.
The visuals are special for one more reason and that is none other than
Shetty sisters who for the very first time are appearing together in this
film and above all dance together in this song. Both the sexy sirens really
look stunning with their spectacular dance sequences. The credit goes
to the choreographer who has done a wonderful job. The cinematography
too deserves huge applause.
Rating: 9/10
5) Jaayon Kahan (Udit Narayan and Shraddha Pandit)
‘Jaayon Kahan’ brings you the romantic duet rendered by Udit
Narayan and Shraddha Pandit. The maestro Udit as usual delivers the goods
with fine effects and Shraddha appears to be a good support. Lyrically
and musically, it does hold values as well.
Rating: 8/10
6) Shaam Aayegi (Sonu Nigam)
Another song of pain emerges with Sonu Nigam who makes it audible with
his catchy style of singing. Sayeed Quadri on writing desk and Anu Malik
on orchestra attract the ears.
Rating: 7.5/10
7) Subah Bhi (Alisha Chinoy)
Sensuous and seductive voice singer Alisha Chinoy sings a romantic number
‘Subah Bhi’ and magnetizes the listener with her soothing
rendition. From the house of Sayeed Quadri and Anu Malik, the song is
quite attractive and easy on ears.
Rating: 8.5/10
Overall:
Full marks to Anu Malik, Sayeed Quadri and the singers for producing a
likeable album - probably the best soundtrack for any of Deepak Tijori's
films to date. Fareb has the potential to attract decent sales. ‘Pehle
Se’, ‘Baras Ja’, ‘Jaayon Kahan’ and Subah
Bhi’ are the picks of the lot.
Overall Rating: 8/10
